Aesop Fitzroy is an impressive and alternative destination for Melbourne’s skin care devotees.

Designed by Melbourne-based architect Clare Cousins together with Aesop director Dennis Paphitis, the store is the company’s ninth in the Asia-Pacific region.

Says Paphitis, ‘When we find a locale where the bread, pizza and wine are in leagues of their own, where the local streetscape combines an eclectic mix of characters with intriguing commerce and is perhaps the last choice for an inner-suburban cosmetic store, that’s where Aesop must be. The Gertrude Street store has inspired us to think differently and approach this particular retail offering from the roots-up.’

The store itself provides visitors with an insight to the Aesop aesthetic – smooth, seductive and simple. We’ve referenced our favourite global hotels, pharmacies, bookshops and cafés to create an interactive environment in which to place our humble brown bottles and jars.

The experience of entering an Aesop store is designed to challenge the visitor to explore with all their senses. From the music and décor to the shelving and product demonstration wet areas, we actively encourage experiences that assist in discovering and learning more about Aesop.
