A 10 minute bus ride from old town Salzburg. Very quaint and an excellent breakfast! The grounds looked pretty in the snow. There is an indoor and outdoor pool.

We stayed in a number of Gasthofs during our trip and this was the nicest. The service was very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The pool and sauna were gorgeous and clean and well-serviced. It even had an elevator to take your luggage upstairs! Gorgeous views of the mountains from our room and very convenient to get to Salzburg.

This is the ideal place when you're in Salzburg you experience the beauty of living in the countryside,and yet you're near to the city centre just one ride away(bus7)approximately @15 mins & you're about 200 meters from the bus stop.All staff are very courteous,pleasant to talk too & willing to help any questions that you asked.One more thing on the day, I arrived so early I was so thankful they let me in early after the room was cleaned.I had sumptuous buffet breakfast and loads of selections as well and the view from the garden was fantastic.The indoor & outdoor pool as added bonus and gym as well.I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience pure luxury and pampering

Quiet and very charming property! The hotel has a wonderful alpine country estate feel on the outskirts of Salzburg. After a day of busy sightseeing in the city, this a great, peaceful escape from the frenzy of the center. The indoor pool is gorgeous and the pub and dining areas are very nice. We loved the breakfast buffet. Led by members of the Schnoll family, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Multiple free wifi zones afford guests access around the property. Public bus transportation to the center is an easy five minute walk to the #7 line at the Valkenauerstrasse stop.

Idyllic Hospitality
I was very fortunate they had a free apartment and I could stay as their guest at Doktorwirt. The location is no more than an easy 2-3 minute walk to bus number 7, going to the centre (easily change one time to bus 3, 5, or 6 straight to the charming centre of Salzburg).
However you don't have to travel to the centre of idyllic Salzburg to experience the best hospitality Austria has to offer.
Imagine how you would be treated as a VIP (very important person), yet part of the family. Imagine being greeted with the assurance that no matter what your requirements, the hosts at Hotel Gasthof Doktorwirt and their adjacent apartments are ready and very happy to help you, whilst at the same time easy going and leaving you free to choose your own interirary.
Also there is an opportunity to travel by bicycle on perfectly safe and beautiful cycling ways all the way across the German border into the mountains and back again easily in a day. If you are tired and want a break from cycling, simply take the train. Or enjoy a swim in the hotel's pool.
The sights in Salzburg must be seen in one's lifetime - and this is the perfect place to stay. The family is a joy and very extremely pleasant.
They really are simply marvellous and I look forward to returning many times.
Thanks a million Herr Schnöll, Karoline, her sister and brother and the rest of the kind family. Only stay here if you want to receive the best treatment in the Salzburg region.

If you want the actual Salzburg experience of living in a quaint little town, this is it. It's owned by a wonderful family, and has the best views of the snowcapped mountains. The river's a ten minute walk away; you can cycle there as well, by a bike provided to you by the Gasthof. It's a billion times better than staying at a Sheraton or a Holiday Inn (trust me, I've seen both). The rooms are good, the bathrooms are great, but I would recommend getting a room with a balcony. The food was amazing, and there's great little restaurants around it if you want to step out. The town center's a 10 minute car ride away.

We have just seen in the New Year @ this Hotel and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Hotel is comfortable and clean and the food is very good. I would happily stay here again.
