This is old Viennese style restaurant. It is an actual celler with many departments. The food was fine, although the menu does not offer many dishes. NOTE that there are two types of Wiener Schnitzel and the one named Original is almost double the price. The staff was friendly but there was only one waitress working on too many tables so we had to wait long to be served. Also note that there is no phone reception and we did not find WiFi as well. The food is good here and the atmosphere is really authentic. The price is a bit "touristy".

Yes not easy to find but very much worth the search. Great place to eat, food delicious, ambience good and well priced. Definitely deserving of our 2 visits whilst in Vienna.

Frauds we ordered a Wiener Snitzel (the 10,90 one) and got charged with the expensive 18,90 one, ridiculous!!
The difference on the menu was that the expensive one was calles "Original" Wiener Snitzel, the cheap one only Wiener Snitzel.
The waiter responsible pretended like he didnt know, took our money and left!
Outrageous!

Food was okay, not impressive for the money. Staff were slow and rude. The places around the corner are much better. Shame, because the atmosphere was nice. Probably wouldn't go here again.

I don't understand why this is rated higher than the zwölf apostel keller. We came in at 20.30 (reserved table for seven) and got the first half of our food at about 22.00. Did I say first half? Yes! Because apparently half our order had been forgotten, as well as all the side dishes (the erdapfelsalat I didn't want but wasn't allowed to change NOR scrap). The rest of it came after desperately trying to get the attention of a waiter for about thirty minutes, at 23.00 (closing time).
Yes, it was a busy night, but we had made a reservation and there really is no excuse for being shouted at by the waiter (rushed off his feet though he was).

He shouted us to our table, shouted at us when we ordered and I wanted to add a side order (not possible, not possible), shouted at us when we dared ask if they had perhaps forgotten us (which they had), etc.

When we payed he added that 'tips are not included'. Well ok, bruh, let's not dwell on the service.

1 star for the nice young man who eventually got us the second half of our order and a mystery schnitzel we didn't order at all (cold, so probably forgotten in the kitchen somewhere). We ate it anyway. He was very embarrassed and rightly so.

Food was good by the way, they just need to quadruple their staff and ditch the 'tude.

The thing about European cities is that there are just so much history buried beneath tomes of heritage. What might seem like a random street, or random lane at Haarhof, Vienna, or a random cafe or restaurant is actually a centuries old cellar. This was the Palais Esterházy, a palace built by the House of Esterházy, a noble family in the Habsburg Empire. The Esterházy would serve out wine to the fighting soldiers defending the city against the invading turks at the city wall nearby.
The Esterhazykeller cellar is located under the palace and to this day, still serves Viennese cuisine and good wine. The great composer Haydn was once a former guest at the palace and as it goes, spend many a night at the cellar enjoying the good things in life. I pondered for a second to do the same at the tavern, at which point, a random restaurant down a random street make the experience enchanting. If walls could talk, imagine the stories it could tell.

A place hard to find, but well worth the search. The unique atmosphere, good food, very fast and friendly service and reasonable prices - one can recommend it with a clear conscience.

This is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of other more central restaurants. We did not feel rushed, the staff were very helpful and charming and the food good. A very enjoyable experience!

Miss the buffet style service. Since it‘s gone to being seated and served, the experience has been horrible. Had to wait very long for the meal, the waiter didn‘t come by very often or seem to care. This weekend friends of mine from out of town left after waiting 1:15 hours and not getting their food. Extremely disappointed, will not be going back any time soon.
