Everything you want from a hostel, housekeeping everyday ,hot water, clean bathroom and room , 2 minutes from the hauptbanhof and 20m to the center, cool reception where you can play fussball and the star of the hostel SAMIRA!

I have stayed at GRAZ A&O a few times and it is very clean and modern.
The staff are very helpful and it is located superbly right next to Graz Rail Station.
I will be back again soon.

STAY AT IBIS ! ! ! Bait and switch -- lure you in with "free premium WiFi" but when you try to log on No connection. Repeated attempts. No connection. Down to the front desk I go, with my laptop. No connection there either. This is not what I've paid for, I tell one of the two desk clerks. "It gets overloaded," the women at the front desk shrugged. "And you didn't pay for it, it's free, so you have no claim on the hotel for compensation." No, we can't do anything about it. It's not our problem. You have to talk to the manageress. No, she's not here. Maybe tomorrow. *** A chronic problem ("It gets overloaded"), and the front-desk personnel are probably asked again and again to deal with it; and they resent management who won't fix the problem. What does that produce? Employees with We Don't Care tattooed on their foreheads. *** Never ran into this sort of problem at IBIS. Pay a few euros more per stay in Graz, is my advice: Go to IBIS and avoid 1) e-mail outages and 2) desk clerks with attitudes like the women's this evening.

Plus points:
Friendly, competent reception staff. Rooms have large windows. Everything *just* about big enough. Clean, modern. Soap and shower gel free, towels and bedding extra. Plenty of power sockets, though you may have to go searching for them (try under the bed). The rooms are cleaned daily and the cleaning staff do a really good job. You can borrow padlocks for the lockers in the rooms against a €5 deposit.

Needs improving:
Ventilation in the rooms is pretty poor and the windows hardly open at all (if you stay here, open the window as much as possible and keep the room door open with a chair whenever you are in the room - it really helps).
Allow people to fill out the check-in forms while waiting in the queue - this will cut the length of the queues in half!

This is not a place for backpackers at all. The hostel is just a big business really and the management clearly have a strategy clever strategy going. The strategy is that since people are not likely to stay again, the hostel will charge ridiculous prices and just have really inadequate services for those prices. The breakfast is definitely not worth 7 euros, it's worth 4 at the most. There are no laundry facilities at this hostel. The atmosphere is just not good for meeting people.

Centrally located Very easily locatable, visible. However being a hostel hotel concept can inconvenience at times. 24hr reception free wifi clean rooms. Choose between dorms or rooms. Rooms have bunk beds for children under 18 accompanying parents - so more family room. Rooms minimally done - no mini bar small TV sets no laundry bath has hot and cold water but was small. Breakfast to be paid separately but choice limited to cornflakes breads yoghurt juice and the likes . That too seems to be in limited quantity.

Very good value for money! Ideal as stop over. Toilet seat and shower should be cleaner. Receptionists are very pleasant. Sheets and towels are of very good quality and clean. We will book again.

Good hotel for good price. Better for young people and location is very good. Railway station is just in front of the hotel. Room are spacious. Traffic under the hotel is loud and you have to close windows if you want to sleep well - but that is not big problem because there is ventilation in every room.

It was late at night and me and my friend didnt have a place to sleep in yet. The staff at the hostel still decided to take us in with her big heart. She understood our condition and tiredness, swiftly taken care of everything we needed. the room was big, comfortable and clean, the beds looked like new and the shower had a strong stream of warm water. The room was equipped with heat generators that kept the entire huge room warm all night long until we woke up to leave the next morning.

Overall, a short but great experience of the hostel.

Please make sure to have a good word with the nice lady that helped us during that night of crisis.

The room is clean and tidy, the bathroom surprisingly large. There just isn't a lot of room for 3 people in the room. Otherwise very nice, also breakfast is plenty at the buffet.

You get what you pay for, if you're trying to travel on the cheap this is perfect. It's less than a 5 minute walk to the main station and you can be in town not much longer than that.

I stayed in the bigger mixed dorms and the rooms are good. Metal framed bunkbeds and minimal furniture but each dorm has its own bathroom.

There's a bar downstairs and one that opens up on the roof, with a lift if you struggle with the stairs. The people I met were friendly and everything was kept pretty clean.

I'd definitely stay here again if I came back to Graz.
