As an adventure motorcyclist, I have had my share of funny looks, poor service, and outright rejection, but here I was welcomed. The owners have ridden bikes in their time, and so are sympathetic to the needs of other bikers.

I've stayed here twice. Since the hot springs resort fizzled out, there is not much about Aliwal North that would make one want to visit once, let alone twice. Welgemoed Chalets changes all that. It is like an oasis.

On both of my visits, I have been impressed by the pleasant atmosphere, friendly welcome, helpfulness of the staff, the neatness of the grounds, and the comfort and cleanliness of the accommodation; all at a very fair price. Both times I booked in for one night, but extended my stay, once to two nights and once to three.

I'm looking forward to my next visit!
