The actual experience was fine (clean, some pleasant consultants) however considering one pays for the “privilege” to deal with the company there are loads of areas where there could be improvement. 1. The system to upload documents does not work. Something that they are very aware of according to the cashier. Seems very convenient for your business model as I had to pay R437 to scan documents that I had to PRINT and bring in for you to upload. 2. The electronic responses of queries were unhelpful and nobody answers the phone. 3. The “receptionist” aka the security woman at the door is most unwelcoming and in helpful. A family next to me wanted to ask a simple question only to be told to “sit and wait till your name is called.”
While my experience was tolerable I think there is a lot that can be done to improve customer service.
The appointment system was running late when we arrived. Many had to wait outside the venue in the very crowded coffee shop area until they were admitted and registered. Security were helpful and called the groups once there was space inside. The staff in the first waiting area before the X-ray machine were efficient and polite under quite a lot of pressure and crowding. The man at registration was particularly pleasant, helpful and patient. We waited a very long time for our number to be called, we had a 14:30 appointment (obviously much delayed) and only left the building at about 16:45. The lady who processed us at the desk was efficient and friendly. I was not impressed by the long wait, but was impressed by the way the staff handled the crowd and eventually cleared it all - we were among the last to leave.
The staff was friendly enough. However, the online appointment booking system is faulty and wouldn’t allow me to choose a preferred appointment slot for the “self service” option, nor load required documents. Eventually, I opted for the “assisted service” option. But when I arrived on the day of the appointment, the staff at reception asked whether I had uploaded my documents. I explained the trouble I’d had when I attempted to and he told me: “that’s not possible. You must have not followed the instruction.” Lucky for me, the person behind me in the line was within earshot of the conversation and he corroborated my story by saying he’d also experienced the same thing, hence he had with him the supporting documents needing to be loaded. The couple standing behind him also chimed in, saying the same thing had happened to them. The gentleman even said he was not prepared to pay extra costs for “assisted service” when it wasn’t his choice but one made due to the faulty system. Following 3 people corroborating my story, the staff member said he’d check with his supervisor. My issue is, the staff member in question was very firm and resolute with his response to me that “I must have not followed instructions”. That was, until two other people said the same had happened to them. So why was my story unbelievable on my own, but more believable in a group?
Excellent Service, I was in and out within 15 minutes. Very Efficient. There was a friendly gentleman who helped me at Counter 3 at 08:30 on 12 March. Well done to him, fantastic service. All in all, a very pleasant experience. Park at Cape Quarter(paid Parking) then you can walk to the Visa office which is about a 4 min walk. Parking at the actual visa office is never really available. The TLS website could use some work because it was not easy to navigate and use. Going to collect my passport was nothing short of a nightmare the staff that work at collections are very rude.
When you enter and leave, everything is done so efficiently. No queues, you don’t even have to bring a book along. The staff is very professional and helpful. The lady by the name of Kirby, told me about the various offers of help when applying for a next visa. She was quite friendly and helpful. She greeted me with a beautiful smile so did,the guy at the bio-metrics booth. They were both very efficient. I don’t think there is anything that i think needs to be upgraded or complain about. I wish you could teach Home Affairs, a thing or two.
I used the premier lounge service and was rather dissapointed. I waited about 20 minutes for someone to come to the lounge and assist, and the coffee machine etc was not on or ready to go. Once a staff member arrived, the service was great and very efficient (well done to them on that part) - but much more can be done considering the cost of this service.
Customer service was very good. The entire application took less than 20 minutes. Didn't have to wait in long queues. Everyone I came in contact with were very friendly and patient with a first time applicant who is not familiar with the process.
I visited the visa application centre yesterday.I was very nervous, had a sleepless night. Was not sure my application was complete.
But I was so surprised by the way I was accepted.I was very impressed with everything. The service was very quick and excellent.Everyone was very professional but I have to sort out the young men Dean.He made me feel at ease.Everything was handled in a very professional but comfortable manner and the coffee offered at the end was the cherry on top.
Keep up the excellent service everyone
Greetings

My daughter and son-in-law were there this morning to deposit their applications for travelling to Belgium. My daughter said the girl/lady that helped them was very friendly and helpful and even gave them the reassuring feeling that everything was going to come out good. Seeing that they were so nervous, that was now just the kind of treatment they needed. Now hoping that everything will be good and they can get their visas, because we miss them and can't wait to see them. 👍
TLScontact provide no indication of visa processing times for Australia. We mistakenly assumed 3 weeks would be sufficient, and they even told us that the Australian High Commission would take into account our departure date. We had finger prints, videos and photos taken on 22 November together with submission of all documentation. We received zero feedback since then apart from two debits to my credit card on the day of the appointment. When queried they told me that I should not have booked my plane tickets yet, and that they were still within service standards. On our day of departure, 13 December, I finally managed to get an answer from the embassy, stating that our visa application was still in the queue and would most likely only be assessed sometime next week. We had to cancel everything for our family of 4, including flights, non-refundable accommodation, etc. We are attempting now to re-book for 23 December, at massive additional cost, and hopefully still in time to at least spend Christmas with family. In all my years of travel I have never had a visa experience as bad as this. I can only hope we get the Visa’s next week.
There is no way to contact these people. We have mailed them and have received no reply. We have waited a month for the Visa.My 16 year old daughter is going to visit her grandfather and the rest of her family .They need to know if they must take leave .It is without doubt the most ridiculous system I have ever experienced. Her U.S visa was approved in 10 minutes.
It is absolutely ridiculous that there is NO WAY to contact TLS by telephone or email. It seems the only way to get in touch is to physically go there and I live 5 hours away :( Applied for visa, waiting for my passport to be returned but the email they sent me from a noreply address gave me the wrong waybill number so now I have no way to find out where the package with my passport is nor any way to contact TLS to find out what is going on?!
Applied on-line for Australia visa. Got letter requesting biometrics. Couldn't make appointment with TLS for biometrics only. Wanted me to submit a new application.
So far all is working well
I went early to ask if I can come without my passport for a UK visa because I was expecting it back that morning from the Italy application. The person who received me said Yes i can process the application and bring my passport later that morning.
When I arrived at 11 o clock for appointment another person dressed in the same uniform as the first one told me that it was impossible to do that. !!! At that time I did not have any transport. Can they please give better training for personnel working there?
Now I'm waiting for my passport. They do not give a site or a telephone nr where I can contact the courier. I am soo worried they do not contact me and take the passport back. I live in a small town DE Aar 700 km from Cape Town
I have had issues with my password, the page I was sent too had text fields to fill in but no labels on the fields so I had to guess what to put in which field.
I am trying to register with TLSContact but am told that TLScontact cannot send an e-mail message using my e-mail address. I have just completed my application for an American visa. They have used my e-mail address 4 times in a row.
