Some rooms say 'family'. In my opinion there is nothing 'family' about what goes on there over weekend nights. It was unbearably loud with the party going on in the central area, so much so we left to try get some sleep at another wilderness hotel. Also, you need 4x4 capabilities if it rains persistently. I understand it's a backpackers and can get rowdy, but dont as it as 'family' then.

The worst bed I have ever experienced in my life. It was so sprung it was it's own mountain range. We couldn't take it and by 4am we packed up and left, forgoing the breakfast and even our key deposit. R880 gets you a "log cabin" which is completed in concrete, a piece of which fell off the wall and hit my wife in the head in the middle of the night. There's a communal bathroom which you have to share with other cabins and dormitories. It also took them 20 minutes to find our booking, even though there are only two log cabins. It would have been hilarious if we'd had more sleep. There's a great sunset view from the bar, I'd recommend going for a beer, just don't spend the night.

We enjoyed Wild Farm for a day or two, but the inssecent blasting of Trance music proved a bit much after a while. I also got devoured by mosquitoes. Despite that, it has an incredible view and seems to be well run.

We stayed there for two nights. The first one, we were the only people with the staff and benefited from a very calm environment. The second one, a (very) large group joined and we had a great time partying - the owners organize music venues a couple of time a year. I really appreciate that they notified us before we stayed/paid of the potential disturbances. The view from the place is really awesome and Wilderness is a cute town.

Only rub for me is that a majority of the staff - running the place - we've met during our stay was French people volunteering. Even though it was a pleasure to speak in my language, I don't approve this way of operating.

I arrived late after midnight and had the privilege to experience a sunrise here next day at a really beautiful location. The facilities are nice but it is overall the laidback and relaxing atmosphere that stands out

This place stolen my heart. The sunset and sunrise view to the ocean, mountain and lake.. And of course PEOPLE. There is shuttle twice a day which takes you down to the village if you do not have your own transport. You can also walk (aprix.45minures) or hitchhike (safe).

It was a bit of a mission to actually get to the location. It involved narrow and gravel roads with a steep incline. Our car (heavily loaded Polo) struggled to get up the gravel hill. A 4x4 woudn't have any trouble though.
Google maps takes you the long way around with the steep incline. Ignore Google's directions and rather go the opposite way on Whites road. Once on Whites Road, there is signage for the Wildfarm- follow it and you'll be fine.

That said- Lovely views of the ocean and the lagoon. Facilities were clean. Staff were decent. Good value for money for basic accommodation. Free coffee and tea :)
