I stopped here in the afternoon on my way to Tzaneen. I ordered a milkshakeit was completely over priced and generic. I can't speak for the food, but don't order the milkshake.

We visited The Red Plate on Sunday (24/09/2017) and that was the last time as well. We placed our order and 75 - 90 minutes later the so called "manager" told us that they forgot to make our order. The same "manager" brought our drinks order and did not come back to the table for the duration that we were there despite the fact that we were seated right in front of the bar counter/till. We could hear other tables complaining as well and I could clearly see the incompetence and the lack of organization skills and common sense.

The food is good and if you're lucky you'll get helpful staff. The menu is interesting, although expensive.
But the portions are quite small and even the helpful staff are extremely slow.

I highly recommend this place. Their hospitality and willingness to cater to your liking is wonderful. They were so helpful to my Paleo (Banting) dietary preferences. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and the fire place so nice on these July evenings. Stop at this town (Haertnesburg) off the R71 and eat here! Gold medal standard!
