Just a quick visit to the Old Hatchery. Accommodation looks comfortable, up to date and well serviced. I will definitely book a fisherman's cottage for my wife and I on our next weekend visit to Underberg.

The Fillet was excellent, the vegetables mediocre. The Oxtail was delicious. Menu ripped, plastic table cloths, furniture miss matching. The noise from the kitchen of staff, cooking and washing is annoying. The restaurant has a beautiful setting along a river with waterfall, it would be nice to be able to sit outside to enjoy that.

Recently under new management. Went for dinner a couple of times and both times exceeded expectations.

The rustic environment set amongst lots of lush foliage and wooden walkways creates a charming and welcoming atmosphere that is complemented by the thatch and sound of trickling water.

The menu while fairly basic offers something that will suit most appetites. I particularly enjoyed the lamb shank and pasta. (Obviously not on the same evening. 😊) The service was good and the geniune friendliness of the staff made for a suitably relaxing and comfortable experience that makes one want to come back.

We had our room in the Oak Tree Lodge, a departement of the hotel, which is a building located on the premises of the hotel. We had a large room, very comfortable beds and a balcony with a view to Drakensbergen. It's a walkable area which is nice and the breakfast and diner were outstanding. Tip: Ask for the 'secret waterfall and cave paintings' walk.

The room was not what was in the picture We wanted a view and got a view of the servants quarters. We heard the restaurant was good and ordered the eisbein One of their stand out dishes It was not freshly prepared, dry and the meat tasteless. For dessert we had another star item on the menu a silky chocolate thing It was stale and had mould on it. Not our best meal at all. The room was cosy and fireplace great.

Yes, a little dated looking. But: much room in the guest house, good food in the restaurant and a beautiful surrounding.

A dreamy getaway near the Drakensberg mountains. I had the pleasure of spending a weekend here and it was a wonderful stay. The cottages are spacious and very comfortable with all the required facilities for those who intend on making their own food. However for travelers like me, a restaurant is available on site to meet all your needs. A personal highlight for me was how serene this place is as well as the fact that they have their own stream running through the place with lovely natural pond! Definitely one of my best finds this year!
