On the waterfront in Kleinmond, at their quaint harbor, there are a myriad of restaurants next to each other, which I can best explain as open plan, as they all use a common frontage for their outdoor seating area, I discovered the Boathouse Restaurant.
Why I chose them from among the choices I had will remain a mystery, but I have absolutely no regrets.

Welcomed by friendly, engaging and efficient table staff, we were off to an excellent start, they even moved our table smack bang into the sunny patch of their outdoor section so my wife could be more comfy, this kind of service is sadly lacking nowadays. So I commend The Boathouse Staff, great job(it kept my wife in high spirits, extra tips).

We ordered their popular meals, grilled Hake Fillets, mine with a Greek Salad, my wife opted for Chips as a side order,
The fish was fresh, tasty and delivered pipping hot with a choice of sauces as standard table condiments.

When my wife is pleased, I am in the butter, so to speak, so the meal was a resounding success, the staff were not obtrusive at all but catered to our every whim, the surrounds and the view was aesthetically pleasing, greatly aiding in the pleasant consumption and digestion of our meal.

A wonderful lunch experience at the Boathouse on the waterfront of Kleinmond's harbor is an experience which will linger in my memory for a great while to come.

So if you are ever in this vicinity, do yourself a favor and visit the Boathouse for an informal delicious sea food lunch coupled with great service and the price.. will pleasantly surprise you.

Waited for more than an hour for our food. My son's chips was not good. He did not eat it. The portions was too small for the price compared to other eateries. The manager offered me a discount when I complained.

The food is good and the prices aren't too bad. The restaurant has a good view of the harbor and they allow dogs which is great.

Waiting for more 1 hour to get food and still waiting. Drinks very fast. Food order had to call waiters to order while waiters fight not to service certain tables. Also fight in kitchen while cluent can hear from toilets. View good but service like 10%. 9 tables empty currently.

A relaxed semi-formal establishment, where you can come as you are and enjoy a lovely meal while surrounded by amazing sea and mountain views.
There are a few interesting items on the menu for meat-eaters. For vegans/vegetarians there is one savoury dish - but it is made with skill and tastes wholesome; furthermore, the menu in general is not extremely long, so this is in proportion with what's available. All of their offerings are well-presented, piquing both your appetite and your interest as they arrive at the table.
The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming, and also respectful - no-one grabs your kids or calls you "sweetheart". Seating for adults and children is nice and comfortable, and even a dog was allowed in the outdoor area (on a leash).
Toilets are clean, with a cosy home bathroom look to them.
We climbed a few steps to get into the place, and I don't remember seeing any wheelchair/pram access - but I was not looking for it, so I can't outright say that there wasn't a ramp somewhere.
Luna was our hostess, and she treated us like 5-star guests during our visit. Friendly, efficient, and a big part of the reason I'd definitely go there again. Hi, Luna!

Food was good; decently portioned and priced. Weather was a little off on the day but it looks like a great spot for warm summer days.

This could possibly be the worst dining experience of my life. Only a matter of time before they close down. Took 30 minutes to get our drinks and we were one of two tables in the restaurant. Ordered a cocktail, when it finally arrived, it was literally plain cranberry juice which they charged 25 rand for. Obviously sent it back and all they did was put a shot of vodka in it. We cancelled our food order after walking through the restaurant to use the bathroom.

Nice cosy place to go have a meal or even just a coffee. And they have a big screen for match days.

Food is fantastic, but only four stars as my food only came after everyone else at my table was done eating.

Good location in Kleinmond however the food was a bit pricy for what was delivered.

I went on a winters day which means it was very empty which adds to the lack of atmosphere as it is a really big restaurant. However in summer it gets very busy and has a great vibe.

Good value and most of the waiters are friendly. Definitely try the snoek samosas for a bite. They are however quite irrational during peak times - closing their kitchen and showing away potential patrons at 14:00 eventhough the restaurant is empty. It is however not only the Boathouse but seems to be a trend in Kleinmond. Another big problem is the cleanliness of knives, forks and glasses. Glasses with lipstick marks and knives and forks with pieces of previous patrons' food on are a regular occurrence at this establishment. It is quite unacceptable and year after year does not seem to improve.

Good battered fish and calamari. Excellent potato chips. Ribs not too good. They advertise for six craft beers on tap, but have been out of Stellenbrau for some time now. They do stock Duvel though.
The waitress with an inordinate amount of gold jewellery on her ears apparently have a hard time hearing or seeing patrons.e for six craft beers on tap, but have been out of Stellenbrau for some time now. They do stock Duvel though.

Great taste at a good value. Wait staff were attentive and the view is good. We ordered the seafood platter for two and the portion was good. Calamari was the best among a few seafood restaurants in Cape Town we dined at. The wedges were pretty good too.

What a disappointment! Dirty plates. Sticky table. Milkshakes were so grainy, the kids couldn't drink it. Burgers were raw. Seafood platter was cold and overdone and the fries tasted like smoked fish. The waitress was sweet though.
