A chilled little place to stop off and grab a bite to eat, go for a bee tour or just buy something from the shop.

Here we are in 2017, having a cup of coffee before our journey back to Johannesburg. A black male approached the gate, which is closed due to a little sausage dog romping around the premises. While he struggled to open the gate, the white woman who runs the place Skrumpy Jacks quickly approached him and asked if she could help him across the fence instead of allowing him in. She went on to explain that she had a dog who barks, however, myself and other patrons were allowed in without warning or concern.

It became blatantly clear that persons of race are not really welcome to this establishment. This is the second time that we witnessed this behavior as the day before, the seemingly playful and docile animal turned vicious against a black patron. The poor patron felt so embarrassed and so did we.
In today's time, that behavior is completely unacceptable especially since she had no 'rights of admission reserved' notice. Even though this shouldn't apply to serving people of color.
Skrumpy Jacks is NOT a place I will be stopping by again.

It's small for a sit down cafe, but serves the hottest chili sauce in the world. An essential stop for a Volcano burger in/out of the Berg.

Lovely warm atmosphere. The cheesecake was amazing but the pecan nut honey tart was also amazing. I have made the pecan nut honey tart since our visit and now a family favourite. Thank you

Nice place to take a short left (or rather, a right), and chill over coffee. ;)
