Place with the best view of the surrounding mountains of Hoedspruit. Friendly owners and staff. Well worth to visit! Jean Martin
Cozy, familiar and super game drives.
The Sausage Tree is located in the Balule Private Nature Reserve which is open to the Kruger and this means there are no fences at all (consequently, animals are free to move. I prefer making this point clear as there are also private and close reserves where you feel you are in a zoo and probably you want to avoid them)
The camp is cozy and intimate which helps to create a nice and familiar atmosphere among all the guests. It is perfectly managed by Sonja (a very good host, friendly and attentive to her guests' needs, a true Professional of the hospitality) and her staff.
The tent is quite spacious, fully furnished, has its own ensuite bathroom with outdoor shower (highly appreciated) and a private deck.
As cherry on the cake, for the ones interested (how many?), there is also a free wifi connection in the tent itself.
Of course, sunrise and sunset game drives are the best part of the day.
James, Sonja's husband, is a passionate and good guide and tells you a lot of things about the wildlife in the bush during the safaris.
For the record, we saw all the Big Five.
For us, at the very first time in SA, it has been a very good stay for the service provided and the experience lived. Moreover, Sausage Tree has an excellent value for money. Truly recommended.
Amazing game drives, amazing service, amazing food, the whole trip just felt surreal and went way beyond my expectaions.
Incredible! My wife and I had the time of our life at Sausage Tree. The animals we saw were amazing! The staff was so great. Kevin and Themba really went above and beyond to make our trip special.
A highlight of our trip. Lovely people kept us all happy, well fed, and tired. Great game spotting, saw the big 5 and more.
Amazing intimate and friendly. Great game drives and food. Would definitely visit again.
This was the best vacation of my life. I was holding back tears when we had to leave. Accommodations are great, food is amazing, and the staff felt like friends.
nice stay in luxery tents, exellent service !!
Very unique! Great staff, our gretings to Andrea , sebs and james. Aparentely there was a magician at the kitchen called Orlando (Everyday was a beautifull surprise). The acommodations are extremely confortabel and clean. At last but definetely not least i recomend the Sausage Tree Safari Camp because of our guide Kevin and our wonderfull Tracker Timbar who were responsible for traking so many animals in the Balule Reserve and for ALL the kindness during the game drives
One of a kind .homely and professional
We visited Sausage Tree Safari at the beginning of a three-week holiday, before moving on to Cape Town. It was certainly the highlights of our holiday, and is now up there with our favourite life moments. James and Sonja are brilliant hosts and made us feel like part of the family. Their team – including Eswe, Themba and DJ – are warm, friendly and super knowledgeable. Accommodation is brilliant – luxury camping that blends the excitement of sleeping close to the bush with the comforts of home and food, enjoyed around the table with with other guests, was delicious. Loved relaxing by the pool in the day and hitting Eswe up with endless questions (he always knew the answers). Our drives were fantastic – we has so many sightings of beautiful animals, sad to have missed out on the leopard but it gives us a reason to come back. We also enjoyed our early morning cheetah walk. There are so many safari lodges to choose from but I'm so glad we settled on Sausage Tree. The three days will always stay in our heart and minds! This is a very special place and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Sausage Tree camp has to be our favourite accommodation in the Lower Zambezi National Park. The staff and service are excellent as well as the food and rooms. I have been travelling to Africa for many, many years and the the game drives in this area are spectacular. A true and authentic safari experience :-)
