It was a good place, staff is helpful and friendly only issue was the Wifi which is supposed to be available but very hard to connect to after 7pm wifi is off following day you get it then it cuts off anytime if you're working online rather bring your router

A bunch of crooks. Who lies to customers. The manager is racist. We come all the way from Kimberly having booked at the lodge only for the manager to say to us we are scaring them coz we are black. After having an disagreement n nt being satisfied wth the service from her. We asked for our refund n she refused bare in mind we haven't even booked in or went to the room. She refused.

This lodge is a historical landmark as are many of the buildings in Stellenbosch. It is ideally situated within the heart of the CBD and makes for a nice walk to the shopping centre as well as the many restaurants. The reception is however, across the road and isolated from the guest rooms which I found someehat odd. Parking is a tight squeeze within the guesthouse premises. The support staff were very friendly and the breakfast was decent.

A very quite place right in the center of Stellenbosch. The reception staff were very supportive, surprisingly the reception desk closes at 16:00 hours and there is none to address issues which could be brought up by customers. On the other hand breakfast service was very poor and breakfast is served from 7:30am which is a bit late. On two occasions I placed orders and waited for over 20 minutes to be served and nothing was brought on the table and had to leave to catch up with time. On the second occasion I made an inquiry only to be told boldly that they forgot that I made an order..Housekeeping also needs to improve. Beddings are not changed as long as you are still checked in. The room I was allocated had ants and there was a kettle in the room full with ants. The housekeeping team does not even bother to clean the ant infested kettle. Outside the rooms it was all litter as no cleaning is done even right on the door of a room. All in all I was very dissapointed with the service and did not enjoy my stay at this place.

I think whoever grade these lodges must make it a point they revisit this Ryneveld lodge because I honestly think 3 star is way too much for them, they deserve to be a 1 star. I think the fact that they are closely located to the Stellenbosch University makes them to care less about services.
The two weeks i stayed at the lodge, felt like 2 months. upon check-in i was allocated a matchbox of a room opposite the main lodge, the room smelled of strong cigarette smoke and i was told all rooms are non-smoking and the lodge is fully booked but they will air the room the following day. The housekeeping ladies are so rude and they do not clean but only make the bed, in the two weeks the sheets were never changed in one of my colleague's room, my other colleague's room was painted while she was still checked into the same room and she was expected to sleep in a room smelling of paint as "the lodge was fully booked". one Saturday afternoon i was taking a break from the busy week i had when i was told to get out of the room by the housekeeping lady as she wanted to clean, upon asking her to come back later she told me she cannot come back as she is supposed to be done with her shift. I do not condone the rudeness from the housekeeping ladies and they are waitresses in the morning during breakfast and housekeeping after 10h00, i guess they are overworked.The reception closes at 18H00 everyday and sometimes at 17H30 with no care taker left behind or any security guard around, upon check in you are given an "emergency number" which does not work and there are 2 other numbers at the reception areas that do not work as well. EVERYDAY AFTER 18H00, IF THERE IS AN EMEGENCY AT THE LODGE, ALL GUESTS ARE IN TROUBLE AS THEIR SAFETY IS COMPROMISED. One evening the other side of the lodge had no electricity while the main lodge was shinning bright, all numbers that we were provided including the "emergency number" were ringing without any answer, as a result i slept in the dark and took a very winter cold shower the following morning.response / report this review -
