Its worth the money you spend however, the guest areas dont do well in heavy rains. Grounds are very lush and scenic though possible wedding venue

After the rain the waters were diety and full of debris. The grass was uncut and camping site unkept. The previous people left their garbage everywhere. No one came to clean up. We tried but it was just too much and smelled u pleasant. We paid 4 nights and stayed 2. No working taps and toilets broken. Bad experience. Not recommended.

Nice relaxed outdoor experience. Good for fishing or just a picnic. It is relatively big. However the road inside could use a bit of tlc. Also the picnic areas need to be properly serviced and maintained.

A lovely afternoon at Roodevallei Restaurant. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. The place is beautifully maintained and the tranquil atmosphere is perfect for a romantic first date (picnic) or an outing with the kids.

Such a nicely maintained reserve. Neat, paved roads throughout to drive or cycle and watch game and birds. A very enjoyable experience.

Very reasonable camping rates, clean, basic ablution facilities with a wheel chair friendly bathroom option.
We camped right at the water's edge which has no electricity. Electricity is provided at the caravan camp stands, deeper into the reserve. We were warned too late( by comming across signage on a walk) that one cannot swim/ touch the water as it is a bilharzia zone, this was not conveyed to us at the gates and the dam only has one sign board warning visitors( which was no where near our camp site)
There is no toilet paper in the bathrooms ,so pack your own.
All and all it was a very pleasant experience.
The reserve has a picnic site for day visitors as well various wildlife.

Clean, neat, well kept grounds and helpful staff and management. Very reasonable camping stand prices. Not so reasonable chalet prices. Great fishing spot, locals think so too.

We went to Roodeplaat for wedding, it was easy to find on GPS, the waiters where friendly and the food was good. Was not impressed though with the noise levels of some of the other guests and Venue should find ways to enforce their non smoke rules. But overall nothing else to complain about.

Nicely renovated lapas and toilets except the road. Water always a bit green but keeps most away leaving space to enjoy a day wake boarding in relative peace.

Beautiful and nature, plenty of different birds. We loved the forest section along the edge of the dam. We saw a 'bok' of sorts scampering away from us. The park lost a star since their map that is being issued to the hikers is woefully inadequate, and it caused trouble. It shows paths that don't exist. It is not drawn to any scale and is heavily distorted, so trying to follow your progress is impossible.
We lost confidence that we were going in the right direction and we decided to turn around. What confused us the sudden change in colour of the route from yellow to white, thinking that we missed a turn somewhere.
We couldn't find the trail entrance from the offices, so we relocated to the pick-nick site. From there, we back tracked along the road until we intersected with the path. We hiked along the water's edge. We did lose our navigational confidence roughly 5km into the hike. There, we decided to take a minor path trying to get back to our starting point. That didn't go too far (pun intended). We managed to return to the path we came on courtesy of a GPS.
Overall, the hike was highly enjoyable. The 'forest section' provided very welcome relief from the direct sun. We clocked the hike at 10.8km. I would recommend studying Google Earth images and to draw your own map.
