If you can't visit Kruger or one of the larger reserves, this is an easy place to reach from Joburg or Pretoria for your wildlife 'hit'. Rhinos, buffalo, sable and other large deer are easily seen.The cats (lions and cheetahs) and wild dogs are all kept in enclosures where you can see them being fed at designated times in the day. The zoo next to the cafe also offers the change to pet white lion cubs (is that a good thing?), and well as a few displays of certain animals like snakes and cheetah. Look out for the pygmy hippo wallowing in the pond below the cafe deck.

Nice self drive game drive, loads of various animals. I like the fact that they now have a 2 tier pricing structure, easier on the pocket for the local people. The animal creche is one of my favorites. You get to actually play with baby 'wild beasts' ranging from tigers, lions, cheetahs and black leopards. Animals are in great condition and the 'veld' looks beautiful. They offer chalets and lodges, I have never stayed there so I can't comment on them. Great picnic/braai areas and multiple restaurants to choose from. Do yourself a favor and visit the breeding camps across the road from the main gate. I've been visiting the location for multiple years now, at least 5 years. Definitely hooked!! I almost forgot, they have the wonder caves too!!

I always enjoy going to the Rhino and Lion Park. It is huge, much bigger than expected. And they have a large variety of animals ranging from big cats, to buck and impala.
They offer playtime opportunities with the tiger/lion cubs as well as the young cheetah and the jaguar cub - truly an experience that is exciting and worth trying.
I like the fact that you drive your own vehicle around the park.
The Neck and Deck Cafe at the entrance of the park has great pizza and other food items - plus you can watch the giraffes or feed them from the bags of food that are provided.

It's a nice natural reserve where you can spend hours in your car looking animals in "freedom". Having a 4x4 is a plus, there are very nice routes only for this.
There is also a confined space to see animals closely by foot. There you'll find beautiful 'cats' and very young ones with which you can play (pay for spending time with them). Also birds, snakes and other kind.
The price is more than fair, cheap I'd say.response / report this review -

A lovely visit. Wonderful sightings! Quite busy but the rangers manage it very well. The facilities are basic and clean but a bit run down. Restaurant (the Thatch) excellent. Pool a very good option. Kids playground reasonable by also a but run down.
The entrance fee is quite expensive but if you have children aged 6 and up, you'll make use of all the facilities which, if you're a local, will almost make it worth while.response / report this review -

I love visiting here. It's a great family outing. It's a lovely drive out in the country side and the scenery of the Magaliesberg mountains make a beautiful picture postcard. If u don't feel like driving all the way to Kruger park. A day out at this reserve is just as awesome. Cost for an adult is R160.00 and children R120.00 that's just for the reserve. Packages are available if u want to do the caves as Well

Easy to spot the animals while driving. They have a variety of animals including cheetahs and lions. Highlight of the nature reserve is being able to play with the lion cubs and cheetah.

If you're here on holiday you should really do a proper game drive but if you're working and pushed for time this place is great. Make sure you go to the nursery and hey in with the baby cats. I got bitten by a tiger cub but won't complain!

nice place to visit. plan your trip in such a way that you can reach there before 12pm-1pm. Because it is feeding time for predators.. n you can watch them closely at the time of feeding. Note: It remains closed on Monday.

Highly recommend visiting here with a tour guide! You get to see all kinds of animals such as rhinos, Lions, cheetahs, ostriches, and many more. The biggest highlight is towards the end of the tour, we were given the opportunity to actually pet a cheetah or baby white Lions!!!! I personally like cheetahs so I was able to pet the cheetah and take several photos right next to one in a closed off area. The baby Lions looked really fun to play with as I saw a lady play with one of the Lions. Overall, if you visit Johannesburg, this place is a must!!! Go pet baby Lions or cheetah or leopard or any other animals available to pet!

Love going to Rhino and Lion. Lots to see and the staff, especially at the crèche is very knowledgeable and friendly. The accommodation needs a revamp and need to work on hospitality in that area. Best thing is hearing the lions roar at night when sitting in the hot tub.

Always love going to the Lion and Rhino Park. Seeing Rhino every time we have been. The interesting buck species. Saw white lions in there camp this time. Seeing the breeding area and the snow leopard! And of course feeding Sunshine the giraffe. Priceless.

I have visited this park a number of times and always enjoyed it. You can view animals, including lions from up close inside your own vehicle. If you want to see big cats from close then you can visit this park.

Absolutely stunning! The animals are in great condition. The food is great. A must for feline lovers. WARNING: THESE KITTIES ARE SUPER STRONG!!! DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THEM. DO NOT TAKE SILLY RISKS!!!

Disappointing that one can no longer get great close up photos of the wild cats the way one could before. I guess they had their reasons for caging them up more. They do however have one of the most magnificent white lions I have ever seen.

Forget Kruger.
This place has it alland you don't need to suffer for it.
Super experience.
Can see everything in a day here
Petting the cubs at the breeding center is an incredible experience.
Nice bit of history in the mining caves.

Animals a plenty. Well looked after safari experience close in town accessible via Lanseria airport for not of town travellers . Great educational outing for both adults and kids.
