Excellent Service, nice park, competent and friendly staff, great cusine everything was great expect: this is a really small park which just contains 1 of the big 5 (bufalo). If you want to see the other 4, you have to go to the Kruger Park (35 min by car)
Except if this fact I can highly recommend a stay at this place to everyone!response / report this review -

Superb starting point of our journey into the bush.
We spent a night @Phelwana before going on safari in Klaserie and Balule Reserve.
And I must admit that the whole experience has been a superb starting point of our journey into the bush (the lodge is situated in the Hoedspruit area, about 40 Km from Orpen Gate to the Kruger National Park)
It is absolutely stunning and perfectly managed by Cathie and her staff (Cheney, Nathaniel and Robert, among the ones we came in contact).
The villas are very spacious and can accomodate up to 4 people (we stayed in the Shingwedzi one). The food at the restaurant is delicious.
Activities such as bush walks and "light" game drives are included in the rates.
There are no big five but you can spot impala, giraffes, zebras, Hippos (and many other). Highly recommended.response / report this review -

We had an amazing stay. Sadly we were only there for two days! The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. A treasure!

AMAZING, no words can describe the experience. We had our wedding at the lodge and our guests stayed there for the weekend. Everything was perfect and I can not fault anything. The staff were very friendly and we had the best wedding. We will be back. The food was amazing and everything was perfect with our stay. Can highly recommend

A secluded and deep in the wild game reserve, Phelwana is an excellent place. With a limited number of rooms, it has a cozy feeling to it and the team there treats you like family. We stayed there over a weekend and had a lovely time

Chris and I had the pleasure of being some of the first guests to stay at Phelwana. We had a most memorable stay in magnificent accommodation, so tastefully and carefully appointed. The food and service was first class or should we say 5 star. Each meal was an absolute treat and a delicious delight. Janine and Pierre with the whole team at Phelwana, you are doing a phenomenal job and you deserve to become one of the top Lodges.
