A bit shocked at the vet's dismissive attitude, lack of information and making me feel guilty for asking questions. landed up spending a fortune which I would happily do for my dog, but NOT THIS WAY. Find an alternative. N.B. Before the vet attacks me, like he has attacked everyone else who gave him negative reviews, my name is Sandra Caganoff.

**QUICK ADD TO MY REVIEW BELOW** There's a MUCH BETTER after-hours vet about 200 meters down the road from this one. Highly recommend taking your pets there instead: Parktown North Veterinary Hospital, across from Circa Gallery. Just in case, you know, you prefer a vet who won't accuse to you of having tried to poison your own dog

Horrible experience. Cold, uncaring vet with no regard for the feelings of you or your animal. I felt very nervous about leaving my dog with him. But he clearly knows that owners have little choice -- they're desperate for treatment and will do (and pay) whatever he asks. The dog was OK in the end (he had swallowed a bit of rat poison) and I'm thankful for that, but still feel very put off by how callous and unfriendly this vet and his assistant were.

Horrific experience, The Vet has only money on his mind and no concern for anything else. He is rude and cunning. Got brilliant care and service at a 24 hour vet not even 300 m from this poorly managed place. Not worth the one star. He took all of a min to “diagnose” my baby and immediately starts throwing Phenomenal costs at me without any tests to prove the condition. Than says to me that according to the patient detail form he notes that I work at company xxx. and he knows that this company pays big salaries! Not surprised to see so many reviews with the same theme about this horrific “vet” and his responses run the very same theme

It's rediculously dirty and gross. Was met by a man with holes in his shirt. They told me to be prepared to spend R1500.00, ended up paying closer to R8000.00. Vet wouldn't even touch my cat and said that they were "filthy animals". If it wasn't an emergency late at night, I would have ran out screaming.

Rude vet, poor facilities, did not do a basic check up on my injured dog and missed a bite wound that got infected.

After my dog was attacked by two other dogs on a Sunday evening, I searched for a 24hr vet close to me and found Parklands Vet. Similar to the experience of others, I found Dr Pragdin to be rude, unwelcoming and verbose and technical in the language that he used, seemingly to confuse one. The practices facilities are old and worn out, with bare concrete to the left of the consult rooms.

He recommended that my dog undergo surgery for his bite wound to his chest, but DID NOT DO A FULL EXAMINATION, despite the R1045 consult fee. Left with no other choice and concerned for my dog, I gave consent to the surgery. However he gave me such an uncomfortable feeling of incompetence that I drove back and would have taken my dog to another vet if I wasn't told that he wasn't already sedated.

Thankfully the surgery went fine, however my dog was in considerable pain and was limping after the incident. On taking him to my regular vet, he immediately discovered another bite wound on my dogs paw which had partially become infected. X-rays were required to ascertain if any bones were broken. These are basic checks which Dr Pragdin missed (or wasn't bothered to do).

I would not recommend anyone taking their beloved pets to this vet.

I am surprised this guy is still allowed to practice. He is still completely unprofessional. I reported him to the Veterinary Council fifteen years ago. Be warned. Stay clear of this place.

Quite rude reception by gum chewing assistant who seemed more interested in sending us elsewhere at 23h00 on a Sunday night.Granted the Vet was apparently busy in surgery - but it was an extremely unwelcome reception and we moved on to another vet.

Arrived here after hours as our cat was weak. We had such a terrible experience from the arrogant Dr. Pragdin. He is pessimistic and exploits worried pet owners just to get money encouraging you to put your pet on drips for R6000 (I was horrified to read that this happens to everyone, regardless of diagnosis - see HelloPeter reviews). I had to ask Dr. Pragdin for a diagnosis as he was so busy selling the drips he forgot to diagnose our cat who has gastro. Dr. Pragdin claims antibiotics wouldn't work even though it has in the past. We will be visiting our usual vet tomorrow for a proper examination. Avoid this vet at all costs! You are paying exorbitant amounts for absolutely nothing.

We had an emergency with our cat late at night. A callous, uncaring vet wanted to simply euthanize the animal and go back to bed. Thank god we didn't listen! Our kitty recovered entirely when treated lovingly at the Richmond Veterinary Cinic. Will never go back to Parklands.
