One of the worst customer service experiences we have had to date. If I could give this place zeros stars i would. If you have special requests for a special needs child requiring simple accommodations (eg a piece of board for a makedhift ramp) do not even bother with this place as the staff have zero regard for the disabled.
If you are a wheelchair user, you are made to feel as a nuisance and unwelcome at these facilities right at the onset by the booking staff.

Let me first state that from my expereince, other places in the Drakensburg did not have wheelchair accessible facilities either but the ATTITUDE and willingness to try made all the difference in making my special needs family welcome.

My son is a wheelchair user and we had intended booking with a group, in the log cabins. The log cabins have 4 steps leading up to it. I have been trying to book accommodation for 18 May, since 6 weeks ago, with a simple request for their assistance by providing a makeshift ramp or suitable alternative at their log cabins. Been promised by Lisa on 3 occasions that she would get back to me after speaking to the owners to see if they could accomodate and on three separate occasions she has failed to call me back.

It was obvious that Lisa forgot about my numerous calls request and forgot to demonstrate the courtesy of returning my calls, because this morning she called me to confirm a campsite booking even though i had been making several enquires for a log cabin with a 4 step wheelchair ramp. I explained this to Lisa and recieved a dont care attitude, and she quite she also encouraged me to share this terrible experience that i have had on social media. Its sad to see a business being run, in this day and age, by ownership having zero compassion for the special needs community. If this business were run in the USA they would be in violation of the ADA, having blatant disregard for the rights of the disabled.

A very warm welcome awaits anyone arriving at Mountain Splendour! The enthusiastic ground staff are so energetic in helping you set up camp it is simply mind blowing! The amenities are great and definitely geared up for families and children. The view of the mountain and the effects of the weather reflects stunning varying moods and changes as you watch them, day through to evening! This place certainly lives up to its name!!!

This is the best place for a family fun holiday. Let the kids run around all day with a group of friends playing soccer, cricket, rugby, swimming, etc etc. "When are we coming back?" is always the refrain when we have to leave.

Mountain Splendour really lived up to our expectations. It's situated in such a beautiful area. It felt very safe and welcoming. We got our cup of tea on arrival as promised, the ablutions were kept clean throughout the day and the family orientated atmosphere was amazing. Very friendly staff as well. Definitely recommend it to families with children who would like to camp out in a very people orientated camp site but who also wish to have a bit of privacy.
