What a little gem! Beautiful outside seated area, the trees provide a wonderful sense of serenity and relaxation! Exactly what two tired teachers needed after a very tough term! The salads are amazing and the staff was very friendly and helpful! A definite must visit for family and friends, I do believe kids will love it!

The Makery has a nice view all around with a big grass lawn, which makes it feel clean and open. It has live entertainment and waiters that attend to your needs. It has a basic food menu whith delicious and different types of classic pub food. It seems as if some of the buildings needs some restoration. But all around good feel.

Lovely setting but the food and service is terrible. After getting our food we did not see our waiter at our table again. My wife did not get all the items on her plate that was listed on the menu. The steak was off, they took it away but as the Junior chef had decided there is nothing wrong with it we still paid full price for it even though they never brought it back. Even the owner admitted he could taste the funny taste, so they decided to make us pay full price but give us a cup of coffee as Consolation. We will not be returning there.

One of those hidden gems. Great place with a relaxed atmosphere, and much bigger than you'd expect. Whether you are feeling like a beer with your mates, lunch with the family, or a day out with the kids, this place would be a great choice for all.
Bar, tables outside under the trees, indoor play area jungle gym and arcade games, pool area, wedding venue able to cater for large groups.

Not worth the 40 min drive or the one hour wait for the order to arrive. Asked for fish to be grilled, asked again to confirm please grill the fish, still got soggy soft slimy fried fish. Full of oil!!! Was really bad. Asked for lemons I got sweet chilli sauce! Served in a brown cardboard boat shaped dish. That was so horrible. Whats wrong with good old fashioned plates. Will not be going back and do not reccomend unless they get their act together and fast. They needed one hour to cook (fry..uhg! ) a piece of slimy tasteless fish? Serious!?!

Well kept, quaint establishment. Stopped off for a brekkie food was good quality and fairly priced. The staff and owner Dean, are very friendly and acomadating. If you have children fantastic play area for them too. Definitely recommend adding to your list of places to visit.

Completely New, Owner managed team. Stunningly beautiful and very well kept. The Makery.co.za has a resort feel to it with 5 separate venues open from 10am every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A massive Kiddies World has been installed for hours of fun for the little munchkins. Parents can sit back and relax at "The Gathering" which is a huge Mede (Beer) Hall. A Traditional Shebeen has been introduced to give a South African feel as well as an executive bar in the riverfront boat house. The Makery has definitely surpassed its former glory and i would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an escape from their busy lives.

Don’t go to Makery, whatever was excellent 11 months ago is now shocking.
A year ago we went to Makery and Nonnie gave us the tour and then the state of the premises was impeccable. We decided to take the kids to swim in the crystal clear pool (green and invested) and have a relaxing day on the boats(non-existing) a lovely meal (no menu to order from just maybe if the chef cooks it will be pap, vleis en sous) sitting on nice outdoor furniture (falling apart at the hinges).
I wrote a review and was called back a week later and promised a call back the next day as well to confirm that all sorted out with great apologise (excuse that the maintenance chap resigned) I’m still awaiting the call - until I’m fully satisfied with good service from them i will make sure that everyone knows about the non-existing service!

Worst Experience Ever. went there. swimming pool green with frogs. false advertising on website. does not look like the pics on website. no food nothing. chairs broken, no menu to order from . just pap and meat. no boats like advertised on website and Facebook. False place BADDDDD!!!!!
