Services is very poor. Takes houra vefore getting your chart. By the time you get to see the doctor you have lost all hope in getting treated. Most of the staff are arrogant and behave as though they are doing you a favour to treat you.

A worthwhile experience for those who love history and this man! The house is located close to informal settlement and area that does is not well established. This makes for an interesting scenario because you get to see the surroundings and how the locals live but also, it might detract tourists from seeing such history! it is a pity that there is not more about this man and his legacy in SA though he has contributed quite a bit to this country. It is definitely a must-see place.

This neglected place cradled Gandhi's early life and shaped his concept of Sarvodaya. Although the original house was burnt, it has been restored and houses a good informative museum. A must for every Indian.

The Phoenix settlemen that Gandhi created sits today in KwaMashu. Although the original house that Gandhi and his family occupied was destroyed in the viloence of the mid-1980's, the re-built house is now home the interprative center that documents the life of Gandhi and his family in South Africa.

On the same property is the building that housed the printing presses that were used to create the "Indian Opinion" which operated from 1903 until 1915. The actual press is no longer in the building and instead the building is used at the administrative center for the site.

Nearby Gandhi's house is the home in which Gandhi's son Manilol lived and assisted in the running of the newspaper, and eventually decoming it's editor.

Finally on the same site is a interprative center that documents the Shembe people as well as the history of KwaMashu and the Indian people.

The on site guides are helpful if available, but everything is well documented so easy to get around without a guide.

Alot can be learnt and history of Ghandi place needs more security and need to be upgraded abit suggest maybe a rest room and maybe an outlet so one can spend a day at this historic place

Quiet spot with lots of information about Gandhi's beginnings and connections. Rich history here, of the important persons on the eNanda trail. Highly recommended.
