What a wonderful experience. Very remote, very nice facilities, wonderful local people. Clean beaches. Wonderful wildlife. Honestly highly recommended. Not so "diving" or "angling" orriented as other places near by, so therefore more relaxed and camping focussed.

Awesome! The snorkeling is fantastic at low tide. (Sea was pretty unfriendly at higher tides!)
The staff are friendly and helpful.and the campsites and ablutions are clean and functional. The sites all appeared to be shady (and sandy) with a water point, braai and rubbish bin. They are well spread out so you barely notice other campers
(Note that there are signs all over that campers are not welcome to visit Thonga lodge contrary to some reports)

A great place to practice snorkeling for beginners, through to experienced divers. Tropical fish are resident from spring to autumn while the water is warm. An absolute maximum of about 120 residents and difficult access for others makes it very special unspoilt & safe place. Book for school holidays & some weekends. Campsites are large, shaded & private, each with a tap, fireplace & rubbish bin (we take out our rubbish to the nearest town ). Also 4 x 4- sleeper cottages @ R375 pppn. Ablutions include hot showers & a basin. Wash dishes & clothes in your own plastic bin. The 143 steps up the boardwalk may put some people off.

Spectacular beaches away from the Sodwana crowds. 4x4 is recommended to explore the area inland. Pop down to the edge of Lake Sibiya for sundowners. A few camp sites are well sheltered with good shade and protection from the wind. Beach access is via a long wooden staircase from the campsite atop the dunes. Ablutions are basic with gas geysers.
Firewood can be purchased at the gate from locals entrepreneurs. Pack the snorkel gear and sunscreen.

One of South Africa's most beautiful untouched spots thanks to a remote location & difficult access. Will be back for a 3rd time next year for sure!!! Thank you to the local community for sharing Mabibi with us & see you soon!
