Awesome trails. Picnic and braai facilities by booking. Really neat and well kept reserve. A definite must see
Lovely scenery and views..rejuvenation!
Enjoyed walking up to the Beacon. 1km up the mountain.requires good knees😂
I love the opportunity to hike there One can easily switch from easy walks to harder walks Beautiful scenery and wildlife
Excellent venue for hiking or outdoor activities. The park is very well maintained, and entry to access the park is free. Parking and security is great.
For the walkers, there are beautiful paths along the streams, with spots for resting.
For the trail runners and hikers, this reserve offers a multitude of trails and paths that criss cross across. Terrain and fauna and flora are varied. If you head out early enough, you can spot a variety of game like springbok and zebra while you overlook Johannesburg City.
This is a lovely nature reserve practically in the middle of town. It has a number of well marked trails. The reserve is maintained by a group of volunteers who are doing a sterling job in keeping it at a great shape.
There trails are mostly on level ground so the difficulty level is low which makes it suitable to the whole family. There is a stream in the reserve and the main trails basically stretch on both sides of the stream. No pool and no swimming in the stream. There is a Cafe at the entrance to the reserve which was closed when we were there.
All in all, this is a wonderful getaway spot if you want to relax with the family for a few hours in nature.
Security needs some work but the reserve is still a very convenient gem in the south of johannesburg
Best place for a morning jog.. usually clean and neat .. can be tough to maintain after a weekend Don't litter people!
Lovely spot for a Sunday family hike. Close enough for comfort but far enough awsy to feel like the bush.
Amazing place for a little hike. Beautiful views. So many different species of buck and birds here.
Out in the country in the middle of the city. This Nature reserve is a great place to enjoy a casual walk or a more technical hike. Lovely views of surrounding areas. Various species of game and bird life abound.
Cool place to hike. Has lots of trails. And it's in a convenient location close to the center of Johannesburg. There's some historical stuff to learn too.
Free and full of family fun!! Can highly recommend. Trails are very well marked and a nice easy stroll
Great place for hiking. I have loved all the trails. However always go in a crowd for safety. There is no entrance fee but you do have to sign in.
It's a nice nature reserve where the public can go for a jog or hike free of charge, with occasional wild animal sightings. The main entrance on Peggy Vera Rd has seen good improvement, but some days there is no parking space available. The rear entrance on Frandaph Drive has the occasional malicious looking loiterers, so be careful and take pepper spray for your own safety.
-1 Star for the large amount of littering in the fenced reserve area and missing/damaged path markers.
A really nice place to go for a hike. The scenery is very pretty and you feel as though you are far out in the countryside. There are different hiking trails ranging from easy to quite challenging. If you are fit I would recommend the hike up to the Beacon to see stunning views of the Johannesburg skyline.
