Very disappointing. Rundown. No animals. Uninspiring hike. Good for safe cycling though.

Did the 10 km hiking trail. Awesome and demanding for a first timer. Facilities run down though. Pity, as there is so much potential!

Absolutely unexpected! Great experience going through the tourist route. Do take your time to soak up the mountains and valleys of this beautiful reserve, it is worth the price one pays at the entrance.

Mountain bike routes are available, though very very very challenging indeed!

Do bring your own food as we did not see any vendors inside the reserve, I believe this would be a great upgrade if they can cater for this in the future!

Do note, non of the hiking trail have a point on route for you to summit, so do not go on them if that’s what you are looking for! But for a good hike spending quality time with family is your goal, this place is perfect.

Bring water and refreshments if you plan to hike, no water will be found on route!! It does get pretty hot at time so be prepared!

If you are doing to 10km hike, do yourself a favor and sign in at the office for safety reasons.

All in all, absolutely stunning view and great to know ones been at the highest point in JHB!

A lovely reserve not too far out from Johannesburg. The tourist route is great, try and do it after midday in summer otherwise it can be a bit too hot. You can take your picnic basket or even braai at the designated area along the tourist route.
You will receive an information booklet and map upon your arrival which is a great help as it acts as a guide and also contains information about the fauna, flora and history of the area.
If you are into hiking, the cheetah day hiking route is also pretty awesome.

If you want a quick getaway weekend, this is the best place for hikers and people who love the wildness. You can do many hiking trails and also drive through the openness in the luxury of your vehicle. This place does require an entrance fee per head and per vehicle. Remember to bring lots of Sunscreen, sun spray or any form of protection from the UV rays. Plenty of water needed and remember to be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Beautiful 60km tarred cycle route with about 1200m climbing, only occasional slow game - viewing traffic, fresh air and great views. Often windy!

Beautiful experience, and very well kept reserve. Would love to hike here. Unfortunately I cycled, which was a real challenge. Be aware of climbing, not for the faint of heart!

Amazing place for nature enthusiasts. Pity they want to ban cyclists. Nice place for a hike or dor cycling. Cycling is all on road. Loads of hills.

Always good for a decent hike when you want to get out of the city for a couple of hours. Bring water and a hat. There's not much shade once you get out on the trail.

Beautiful nature reserve that is excellent for hiking. The accommodation is relatively well maintained although some huts had bees. Overall a good experience. Would recomend

Large nature reserve with multiple hiking trials. Great for road cyclists on their internal all tar roads with very few cars. Beautiful views from their mountain.

Great place to go for a day out in nature. There are well marked hiking trails as well as a tarred 60km road to drive around the reserve. There are animals here but they are quite difficult to spot. Nevertheless the ever changing scenery in the park make it well worth the visit.

Went for hiking. Breathtaking reserve with well marked and well kept trails. Come prepared with water as there is no shop to purchase water. For the 10km trail it will take about 3 hours so prepare your time. Good trails for beginners or experts.
