Very much enjoyed our stay camping. Kitchen and bathrooms are top notch. We did 4 one day hikes at the reserve close by the views are spectacular.

Staff and owner are really helpful.

Unique relaxed cosmopolitan atmosphere. Young and old from many continents mingle here. Good base to go hiking in the berg. Inexpensive. Inspirational.

Brilliant Backpackers lodge. Excellent facilities to fit every budget. Lovely location with great views of Cathkin Peak and Champagne Castle. A great place from which to hike and close to all other activities in the Champagne Valley

A lovely hostel in the beautiful Drakensburg Mountains. Close to the trailhead at Monk's Cowl for walks. The rondevals are very comfortable.

Fantastic place. The grounds are beautiful and spacious and the rooms simple and clean. You can buy breakfast and a vegetarian dinner and both are very tasty. The owner, Ed knows the hiking trails around the entire region and works with you to find exactly what you're looking for. Great spot and great value!

Great jumping off point if you want to do some real hiking but want a real bed. Easy hiking can be found in champagne valley, and Monks Cowl is super close. Injisuthi is an hour away, as is giant castle. The rondavals here are cool, but dorms are clean and good value too. Beautiful fresh water pool, great kitchens and braai area and a knowledgeable owner.

Nice and clean hostel, great for a quiet little getaway. The rondavels are awesome! The "pool" however was a bit filthy with algae being a dam but oh well

Ed knows his stuff. He used to be a trail guide, and he probably knows them better than anyone else. He is a helpful, friendly guy. He keep the lodge in tip top shape. This is the best place I stayed in while in South Africa.
