We had the immense pleasure of visiting your establishment last night, just to celebrate our friendships and life in general - a first visit for a few of them, might I add.

    WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED !

Please will you give our heartfelt thanks to EVERYONE who made this evening so unforgettable for us - everything was world class and the food was absolutely delicious!

We truly appreciated all the effort that went into this evening and left reluctantly, but with rich memories to treasure for a lifetime.

Thank you management and staff for proving that true fine and elegant dining is still alive and well in Port Elizabeth!

Good food, very friendly staff but very dated decor - I guess that's to be expected from an historic building.

Picturesque garden setting. Old Victorian/Edwardian guest house. I have only had breakfast there and have not stayed over. Breakfast was 5-star!

Very nice place, with a hint of nostalgia to it - "old world elegance." It's apparent in some of the details - like minor fixes that don't match the original decor. The staff were very attentive, and dinner in the restaurant was good (and reasonable, with US/Rand exchange rate). The dinner service was very slow - although that may have been cultural - to Americans, dining overseas often seems very slow, compared to the much faster pace we're accustomed to.

It was the most exquisite stay at Hacklewood. The scenery was just magnificent and very posh. Staff were very good and caring, the service was great and meals were superb. Hope to go back soon and I highly recommend it!!!
