No electricity, off the grid, bring power bank, cash only, perfect get away from the chaotic city life. Super affordable!

Rural and really off the grid! Beautiful! No electricity but bonfires in the evening and solar power lamps. Waking up amidst mountains! But bring your powerbank if you want to charge your phone. Kamberg and giant's castle rock art close by. Sleeping in wooden cabins, cooking on a gas stove.

The owner Mike and his band of helpers go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. Mike's cooking, though it might not qualify as gourmet food, has a few gems that stand out, and is served with genuine pleasure.
The area is beautiful, and the backpackers grounds is large and spacious. Rooms are wood cabins and electricity is provided.
The guys are more than happy to show you the area, and even drove us to town once or twice.
Pretty good for being one of the cheapest backpackers in the Drakensbergs!response / report this review -
