Make no mistake the main food is good and the ambiance matches. However the food wasn't up to the expected exceptional standards the evening we were there. (I mean pumpkin and spinach for veg.. same as all the franchise places.. would expect fresh and crisp real veg rather than mashed mass produced slush from a real restaurant which some erroneously rate in the top 10 of Port Elizabeth!) Possibly trading on previous reputation rather than current performance? That said it's still worth a try even if just to prove my oppinion wrong. The table service is great and unobtrusive and the ladies are beautifully dressed

One of the top restaurants in PE. Great view over the sea. The service is excellent. Very good food for any taste. Steak our favourite. Mighty be little more pricy than other restaurants, but worth it.

I regard this as one of Port Elizabeth's best fine dinning experience. Located on the beachfront with fantastic views of the bay. If the Easterly is blowing the drapes might be down. The meals are fantastic, especially their steaks. Great for business dinners but families will also enjoy the experience. I recommend booking ahead of time to avoid disappointment

We will always be a fan of Coachman. Natalie's delight is on my list of fav meals of all time. I do however feel that the vibe/atmosphere outside is so much better and enjoyable than inside. Inside always feels a little old school, not exactly 'trendy'. Be sure to rather ask for a seat outside 👍🏻

This is where I got engaged. Magical night in a wonderful restaurant. The waitresses were interactive and helped execute my proposal plan. Is a truly classy and wonderful restaurant with amazing food options.

Its a very sad day when a restaurant of this caliber cannot handle what should be seen as constructive criticism! If the management of this restaurant think that by being rude and aggressive to customer who dare to speak the truth, that they are doing the correct thing, they won't last long. My sole purpose for posting my initial post was because I really thought the owners were not there - hence the bad/ total lack of service we got as well as the burned steak and getting the wrong food. Imagine my surprise when I spoke to one of the owners, when she requested that I phone her, only to find that she was in the kitchen that day! Then on top of that to put up with rudeness and aggression from her. Totally unacceptable! If you think I phoned to get a free meal out of you lady - I will never set foot in your restaurant again..WHAT A TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT! WE WAITED OVER AN HOUR FOR A MAIN COURSE. THEN I ASKED FOR IT TO BE A TAKE-AWAY AS I NEEDED TO LEAVE. THE RESTAURANT WASN'T EVEN HALF FULL. AFTER ANOTHER 30 MINS I WENT AND STOOD AT THE KITCHEN DOOR AND AGAIN ASKED FOR MY TAKE-AWAY. WHEN I FINALLY GOT HOME THEY HAD GIVEN ME THE INCORRECT FOOD!!! DEFINATELY NOT THE KIND OF SERVICE ONE EXPECTS WHEN PAYING COACHMAN PRICES.

When you get told by 2 different local people this is the place to eat in PE then it must be good.
We booked a table at 8pm - were not specified any dress code and when we turned up we felt very uncomfortable being in shorts and vest tops when nearly everyone else was dressed smart/casual we were seated outside, as far away from the min indoor restaurant as possible - I'm guessing this may have had something to do with how we were dressed!!
We had the prawn/avo cocktail for starter followed by the lamb shank, filet with halloumi and fish for our mains.
The food was fine but to be honest it wasn't anything special. The waitress, although very well dressed, wasn't very professional especially when carrying a bottle of wine under her arm to the table and plates were removed before we had all finished.
We wouldn't rush back as there are a lot of other restaurants to choose from.

Nice Ambiente! Waitresses well dressed and trained. Steak was good, but side dish (veggies) tasted like from Spur (spinach and butternut). Good ocean view if you sit outside.

Love the setting and the view at this restaurant. Good food and good service too. I would go back 😊 Also, the pricing is not bad when compared to JHB standards.
