How horrific is this place I have tried for several weeks, each day, each hour to reach one ward, the CEO's office, anyone and there is no management! From the switchboard to the Urology and Surgery Ward the staff are rude, refuse to give a name or assist with the simplest of information on a telephone. Can you imagine the poor medical assistance then. You are an absolute failure and disgrace to a modern society. Nelson Mandela would be disgraced of your absolute abuse of empowerment.
I was there this morning and I was told to see a specific doctor today but then they forgot to inform me that the only thing open on a public holiday is the casualty. I don't know how anything can operate like that but I would just like more information like am I able to go back next week because I did have a scheduled appointment today.
Useless Hospital. The only ones that can assist in certain incidents. Patients get screamed at sworn at. Families may not even assist to bath the patients. Today the nursing staff decide to lock them in a ward and just leave the patients. Just get rid of 90% of the staff there. As clearly they are not in the correct field. If we have so little jobs in this country why do we keep the ones that actually are too lazy to work.
My daughter and sister visit as outpatients and I have yet to hear a complaint from them. Both the Neurology dept and the OT dept are excellent. My daughter no longer requires regular OT treatment but whenever she requires attention she makes an appointment and goes in. They are most helpful and accommodating.
I was a patient at the hospital in September for a knee operation, I'm not even
sure if the operation was successful because when I have to go see the doctor at the hospital they tell me I don't have a file and that I should return to my ward and start the whole process again which is very funny because I've seen the doctor once and all of a sudden my file goes missing?!?!None of them want to take the blame which is pathetic in my view, all of them do their job with NO love I had staples that weren't removed properly and I only realized this a week ago that I still had stitches inside my knee which is why my wound never healed in time, I had to remove them myself because the useless staff this hospital has!!
I plead with the hospital to run their systems more professionally because as patients we need to be respected.
WILLING BUT GROSSLY INEFFICIENT. IF YOU ARE WHITE, THEY ARE TOTALLY INDIFFERENT. MY WIFE, AGED 76 IS DYING, BUT NOBODY CARES A STUFF. WHAT A SAD COUNTRY.
It would have been a great experience had it not been for nurses like sister Gama at ward 162 maternity admission section. That woman is just a waste of human life. she is rude, unprofessional and lazy. Such nurses give the hospital a bad name. I don't even know why she decided to study nursing when she is the devils twin.
Despite the long wait and back and forth during booking into or seeing a doctor, this place houses some of the best doctors in the world.
What a wonderful service I've received from this hospital, sent someone to collect my medication it was ready packaged waiting for me, I'm so impressed keep up the great work, ward 197 very friendly nurses
The main negative experience is the unfriendly attitude of staff at the hospital, especially to people not feeling well. Going to the doctor or a clinic is a long drawn-out process at the best of times and staff need to appreciate this and be friendly and helpful instead of demanding why one is late, etc.
I would like to thank all the doctors and nursing staff from the oncology ward 9th and 8th floor green block. Especially Dr Y.Mayet and prof. Ruff for all they have helped me with. I was diagnosed with CML (chronic myeloid leukaemia) last year June (2016) and in December it turned into ALL. (acute lymphoid leukaemia).
I'm currently in hospital for my chemotherapy sessions and only have 3 months to go.
Every one from the nursing staff right thru to the cleaning staff has really been helpful and friendly to me and my family that came to visit me.
I am petite and small build, and had severe problems with the I.V line in my veins, as my veins could not handle the chemotherapy, until Louise Esterhuizen inserted a Bard Picc Line in my left arm, it works like magic :-) and it made a lot of painful chemotherapy sessions much more bearable, with no pain or chemo burns at all.
Charisse.
In wards and theatre staff very good
I am eternaly grateful for the considerate and compassionate nature of all the staff in ward 585 and the oncology section on P4. From the first day we were met with ever helpful individuals that treated us with respect and dignity. Their general demeanour always made us feel like they are with us on our journey to seek health care. The superintendent nurse (Sister Anna) is by far one of the most experienced medical health care professional all that understood our plight and advised us at every step of they way. We really wish to thank you all for making a really positive difference in our lives. Please keep up the awesome work!
I had such great experiences with my dealings with the staff and doctors for my Nanny at this hospital! Renee and Wanda at Ward 164v - what a pleasure to deal with! Absolute starts UNTIL dealing with VIOLET and Chikaroro at Ward 196D - oh my word - aggression and downright rudeness - absolutely disgusting! To be told I am calling them liars and shouting at me on the phone, this type of attitude is what gives these places a bad name - you should be ashamed of yourselves! Go spend a day with your colleagues at 164 and learn about customer service!
WowFor a government hospital, I'm so impressed. Well, I speak from inside the 4 walls of the cardiac ward, 566 blue block.
I was Transfered from Tambo Memorial Hospital to Charlotte Maxeke to do tests on my heart & the service I received here is amazing. CleanfriendlyDoctors who know what they are doing. Really blessed. May God use you Charlotte Maxeke to bring hope to SA!
