After a whole day driving around we had a friendly and fantastic relaxed meal at Canimambo. The food was of highest quality and the friendly staff delivered very good service. A real relaxed Portugues/African restaurant. If you prefer a stuck up zoo meal you can try the glass housewho looked us up and down and told us he is fullafter I phoned 10 times to make a booking with no replyCanimambo a real peoples choice restaurant

Had an awesome experience with my boys. Waiter went out of their way to accommodate them. Unfortunately, he somehow undercharged us but we rectified it
Overall, great experience. Would definitely go back there

The food was terrible, ordered a medium burger and came well done, burned and dry. I asked for it to be corrected and I was told they don’t do meat temperatures. My former ordered Greek salad and there was no dressing on the salad or in house, the lettuce was not shredded it was whole leaves of lettuce. What a horrible experience that was.

What a wonderful restaurant to finish off the day in, after eating the kids wanted to go home and sleep but we were ready to stay all night, the restaurant has an exceptional local feel to it and the food is great.

You won't be disappointed, I will definitely be back.

The appetisers we had were good, and tasty. The issue for me came with the mains, we got 12 prawns 6 peri peri and 6 lemon butter, but we were unable to taste any difference. They were tasteless definitely not worth a cent. Don't know what happened to the Portuguese in the food.

Whack, shady place. i went to buy take away food on my visit to mpumalanga. their menu said half chicken is 82 rand or so and then guy at counter told it cost 112 rand. the food came.. - loads of rubbish, chips were off and the food was stinking nonsense. terrible experience. woould never recommend

Best meat I eat in years. Tender and juicy. Only trouble, I had little vegetable served with it.
The decoration is somewhat of both continent, European and African.

I had a fabulous experience at Canimambo. The waiters were friendly and fast. The prices are a little bit more than average but the fresh complementary bread and the delicious food made it all worthwhile.

The bowl of chicken livers was so delish and the Portuguese burger was so massive.

I thoroughly enjoyed this establishment!

The young crowd singing and playing musical instruments made it extra special for me. I would've liked to see the boma up before we left but nevertheless a beautiful place.

We were extremely unhappy with our experience of Canimambo Restaurant. After having read good reviews online as well as receiving recommendations from locals in the area, it was most definitely not what we expected. The waiter service was slow and lack lustre. Drink orders took a while to be received, half of which we ordered not being in stock. Regarding the food, this was not up to standard at all. It is the first time at a restaurant that we have been told that if we order a main course it only comes with chips. You do not have the option of exchanging for rice or salad and in the instance that you do, you get charged extra for the addition while still getting the chips. The salad was basically a heap of lettuce on a side plate with few other additions. To further ruin the experience the Chicken which was ordered 'hot' arrived as less than mildly spiced, not to mention the fact that it was raw inside even after having expressly requested the chicken to be well cooked through. No apologies or a replacement meal was offered. The chicken may have been credited off our bill however an apology or alternative option would have been appreciated. It is very disappointing that the food and service was so poor as this restaurant has such a lovely location and the general ambiance and appearance of it is great. That unfortunately is where it ends.
