I usually went there with an indian or white & got the best treatment ever not long ago went with my african friend & we were told to wait outside (windy, cold raining weather) to be seated in yet there were vacant tables just not cleaned. We walked out & ate somewhere. Nxaaaah 😠.
Most beautiful experiences. Very friendly and helpful staff. Most beautifully presented food and drinks. Be it just a cappuccino , or a scrumptious romantic dinner, one will never be disappointed. Situated on the promenade. Comfortable seating inside or outdoors.
Stunning restaurant, serene, excellent vibe! Can have private parties too, wonderful, beautiful place to have your own get together. Food is absolutely amazing, service is excellent and I will definitely go back!
This place is catastrophic. A run-of-the-mill menu with no possible first or even second choices. Shocking decor punctuated by slow and chaotic service. An experience not to be repeated.
The newly renovated restaurant is looking good with slick decor and comfy chairs for relaxing with a cup of coffee. The service was friendly and attentive.
I ordered a Beef and Guinness pie and was quite disappointed. The pastry was flat and rubbery and the meat was dry. The salad was small and lacked inspiration. My husband's chicken breast was dry and unappetizing. The fries were good though. Overall the meal was expensive and not worth the price. A lack lustre meal best forgotten.
The menu lacked variety and many of the wonderful items on the previous fine dining menu are no longer available. I hanker for the days of fine dining at Jiran. It seems they are gone
Cafe Jiran is being renovated. It is boarded up and appears closed but is still open in the Bellaire Suites Hotel, Bonsai Room. The menu is seriously trimmed down but the breakfast was as good as ever, with crispy bacon and good coffee.

Chai latte - below average
carrot pineapple and ginger fresh juice - I didn't taste any pineapple so I would say it was okay not as delicious as I would have expected
Carrot cake - very average compared to other cafes
Chilled coffee spot. Infrastructure needs some TLC. Reasonable prices and good service and coffee.
Currently under renovations, and temporarily moved to the hotels secret bonsai garden which is stunning!
Food is always very good, but service frequently seems to be slow.
Lovely space, be sure to grab breakfast after a walk on the beach. They also sell great coffee
Nice vibe. Nice service. Decent fish and chips. Crappy creme brulee
This is our default hangout. We know their menu by heart. It is perfectly located. After your meal, you can take a walk on the beach promenade and enjoy the beautiful Durban ocean. The food is well prepared. They are usually on the ball with service but sometimes they drop the ball.
Used to love their lunches, but they recently changed their menu and all the old favourites are gone.
Great food, great service, BEST coffee I have had in a long time!
Good service and food, but it had a very small dinner menu!
Had lamb curry for dinner in January 2017. Received food ice cold. It was sent back and after 20 minutes it came back just as cold. Waiter amd chef was informed but to no avail. More interested in conversations with co staff. Service pathetic.
We had a great breakfast on a pleasant Friday morning. The coffee options were fine, according to my parents. (I'm not a coffee drinker.) The crumpets, oats, and vegetarian halloumi meal were all delicious. I highly recommend the French toast with bacon, which comes with tomato jam: it was savory, not sweet, and fantastic.
