Beatiful setting and scenery. Large rooms. Feel the furnishings are a bit dated and nin need of and update and some maintenance.
Old style bulky keys are annoying to carry around with you. The wifi was free but had many issues connecting and keeping a stable connection. The extractor fan in our bathroom did not work and as you cannot open the window it took forever for steam to clear etc. Not having a phone in the room was quite annoying as you cannot just dial a digit for housekeeping or reception for assistance, you i stead have use the cellphone number thats on the welcome letter which you then have to find. Our call was not answered so i had to walk down to reception for assistance. There were no instruction on how to operate the fireplace or jacuzzi in the room so had to get assistance again.
What made up for many of the shortcomi gs above was the amazing staff and service we received. The manager, Mike,and his team went out of their way to accomodate my wifes gluten intolerance and ensure ahe cd enjoy both our 8 course tasting dinners and the picnic was also very well catered for. We have never experienced this kind of service anywhere previously.
If the niggles above were addressed i would think this wd be a 5 star experience!response / report this review -

Overall exquisite experience! Beautiful setting in the bush with lovely friendly service. Wonderful and delicious picnic basket available to share with your partner under the trees watching the birds in the dams.

The hotel gives you the nice feeling of a farmhouse. It was raining on the day we got there and we almost got stuck with our Mini on the slippery and muddy gravel road, part of the adventure At the security gate we received a friendly greeting. After a run in the rain with our luggage we entered the building and a big fireplace welcomed you. We however did not receive a welcome from anyone at reception and had to go look for someone to book us in.
The place is very relaxing and have big open areas and nice walking routes with a pond to explore. The room was nice and clean and had some nice features like the outdoor shower.
We had a wonderful lunch but again the staff was missing, we had to go look for them again
There were many activities to keep you busy even with the rain outside.
The highlight was definitely the 8 course fine dining menu. This is a recommended must for everyone!
It was still a lovely evening.
The next morning, a beautiful sunny morning, breakfast. Staff was missing, no coffee cups, no classes for water or juice, croissants were old, waited for 15 minutes for a table.
The service definitely spoiled the experience.

Just an hour of out of Joburg brings you to this amazing lodge in Magaliesburg. Dinner was an 8 course feast going from one amazing dish to the next. Picnic on the lawns are a must for hours of relaxation, more great food and wine. Will definitely be back.

This is definitely an upmarket establishment. The reception is excellent, there is assistance with your luggage.
The rooms give the impression of being really clean. Their towels undoubtedly has the freshest smell compared to most other overnight facilities that I have visited.
The bath gave me the idea at first that it might not have been cleared, but in lieu of my total experience I am convinced that the water should be blamed. There was sand in the bath water, thus I have an idea that either have been working on the plumbing or that they are using borehole water. A filter for that might appeal to the more sensitive patrons.
A good quality soaps await you and the towel reel is heated.
Attention is paid to detail, such as the lights in the rooms welcoming you after supper, the warm blankets that had been switched on by then, the gown that has been laid out and the bed that had been opened.
Their food compares to that of a really famous hotel in Cape Town.
Budmarsh sports the least bling that I have seen in venues of this nature; and that really appealed to me.

Beautiful setting , attentive friendly staff. Fabulous country style room with fabulous gas heater .
Fantastic for a picnic out in the country.
Dinner was pleasant very expensive R810.00 a couple thank you all
