So i called to get a quote. What a shocking experience. I had to call 3x and eventually was told i would be contacted. So 2days later i get a sms from a *Chris* which reads tried to call you. I did not have a missed call. I immediately replied to say call again, obviously this has also not happened. Stick t9 the big companies, rest are a joke.
I uncovered that Brightrock staff completed a policy application, except the terms and conditions that was not disclosed to me as if they the policy owner. This you call Brightrock staff falsified a policy application. This is against the FAIS act. In fact I'm in possession of 3 falsified documents, falsified by Brightrock staff.
Brightrock Insurance company marketing material Misleading Treating Breast Cancer Patient Unfair.
Long-Term insurance says clearly the following.
"ADVERTISING AND DISCLOSURE"
"10.4 Factually correct, balanced and not misleading
10.4.1 Advertisements must –
(a) be factually correct, excluding aspects of an advertisement constituting puffery;
(b) provide a balanced presentation of key information; and
(c) not be misleading. "
Factually correct
Balanced
Not misleading
"10.7 Appropriate language and medium
10.7.1 An advertisement must use plain language.
10.7.2 Terms must be defined or explained if the average targeted policyholder
could not reasonably be expected to understand them.
10.7.3 An insurer must consider the appropriateness of the medium to be used to
publish any advertisement in relation to the complexity of the policy features
or other information being communicated."
When Brightrock says the following in marketing material and I will supply this on request.
"The cover conversion facility is made available to clients to ensure that all 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲-𝗼𝗳-𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. That means that once a client has been underwritten, they will never have to be underwritten again when applying for more cover through converting their premiums. However, BrightRock does have to ensure that we are not exposed to any more risk than what we underwrote the client for initially. As such, it‘s important to remember the following:"
So when you do the cover conversion option and don't ask for more cover than you were underwritten for Brightrock will not underwrite you.
"Three checks we’ll do when converting a client’s cover
1. Have had their BrightRock cover for at least three years, and are up to date with
their premiums.
2. Are younger than the maximum entry age for the cover they’re buying:
3. Can prove the financial need, where relevant:"
Now according to this I was allowed to renew my cover in the underwritten cover areas that I had cover in, according to this cover conversion option.
Well I was declined due to a clause under cover buy-up. I opted to use my cover conversion option and not cover buy-up. Under cover buy-up should you have a claim payment of 25% on dreaded disease you will not be able to use the cover buy-up. Being diagnosed with Breast Cancer and received a payout for breast cancer I was refused my cover conversion option and lost my dreaded disease cover. As can be seen Brightrock is making misleading statements in marketing material. In this marketing material and my owners manual nowhere it says that should you have a claim of 25% or more you will not be able to use the cover conversion option. The same as what the insurance company says to you if you do not disclose an illness they will decline a claim. Like the Momentum story on social media before. Brightrock also has to disclose everything to you the policy holder as can be seen above in the long-term insurance act yet they refuse doing this. You think this company is acting ethical?
