I am a Sales Rep which means I travel a lot and especially to region such as George and Surrounds. I tried a Couple of overnight accommodations in the area but the problem was that either the price was too high or the living conditions was not up to scratch. But when it comes to quality meets price I would definitely recommend Bethel Self Catering. Service is key for me when it comes to any situation and honestly Ulene takes self-catering service to a whole new level. She remembers her customers and ensure that see meets our requirements as much as possible. I'm looking forward to my next stay there this coming year and Ulene and her family are warm friendly and also very helpful. Thank you Ulene for your great service keep up the good work.

Excellent service and very friendly! Host went out of her way to ensure our stay were comfortable!! Thanks Ulene will definitely visit again!!! Very modern, open plan of unit 5 is an excellent choice!! Love it!

I needed to be close to the Southern Cape Rehab hospital where my 90 year old mother was undergoing rehabilitation.
I made a booking for 7 nights at the Bethal self-catering and B&B and was told the first night I would be in room 2 with 2 single beds and thereafter I would move to room 5 with a double bed.
I paid the full amount in advance in good faith.
On arrival at the B&B we were shown to room 5 with a double bed.
BUT the one room included the kitchenette (fridge, microwave and kettle on a table), half a metre from the bed (with a large sign “Do not eat on the bed”) and then the toilet another metre away from the bed.
Yes the toilet was open and next to the bed in the same room we were to cook and eat in.
We did not see anywhere to sit and eat – maybe there was a table there and in our shock did not see it.
The ad said
We offer 4 fully equipped self catering or bed and breakfast, that sleeps 12 people. All the units are equipped with bedrooms, sleeper couches, bathrooms, small living area, a well furnished kitchen with fridge, oven, microwave, coffee and tea making facilities, TV, DSTV, a braai area with facilities.
UNIT 5: Sky Room - 2 x single beds. Shower. Fully equipped kitchen, with microwave, 2 plate stove & refrigerator. Own washing line. Own Braai facility. TV & DSTV. Fan.
From the ad I had expected a separate bathroom/toilet and a separate kitchen
The owner was busy in a meeting, was extremely rude to us as her meeting was clearly more important than paying guests.
She ran off in a huff and came back with R900 in cash – we had paid R4200.
She did eventually via eft refund me 75% (R3150).
However I do feel that she had misrepresented the self catering aspect of the room to us, and should have refunded us the full amount.response / report this review -

We have stayed twice at Bethel, on both occasions for 1 night on our way to Port Elizabeth. The first time we had the honeymoon suite (although we had actually been married for nearly 40 years!) and found it spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. Our hosts were friendly and obliging. The second time we had one of the smaller suites - fine for overnight and we were glad of the undercover parking because it was raining.

Staying at Bethel for an extended period of time due to work commitments made up for being away from home for such a long time. Bethel is a family run establishment that makes you feel like part of the family without invading on your privacy. The rooms are always neat and tidy and have all the required facilities. It is also the best value for money place in the entire region. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a home away from home experience while on holiday or on business.
