The wonderful owners of Assendelft went out of their way to rescue us on a Sunday when our Land Rover broke down in Leeu Gamka on our way back from Karoo National Park. What a place to get stranded! Beautiful Karoo scenery, fantastic home cooked meal, and a relaxing evening by the fire. Can't say that we stayed at Assendelft for its intended purpose, but we recommend it nonetheless!

We got stuck a train outside the lodge for roughly 3 hours. It was a really great experience -- the area was stunningly beautiful and the scenery tranquil. Ghost stories abounded. 10 out of ten.
