As usual, the Subbase location only serves chicken.
I was going to St. John on the ferry and stopped here for lunch. Delicious food and fast service.
This place has been around for quite some time. I remember eating here when I was younger. I would crave their ribs and chicken.
Now, I'm older. I like my steaks dry aged and grilled to medium rare. A long shot from the days of "everything well done".
The good part is, the food tastes the same. The bad part is, although it's good, it's not "Texas" good. Everything seems to be cooked regularly, gas oven regular. There's no "pit". No slow cooking process. No juiciness to the meats.
I may try to go back, out of nostalgia, but the prices and lack of effort to earn "Texas" will definitely keep me in the present.
