Got there at 10 minutes to 2, thinking they closed at 3 (note, they close at 2), and our waiter Timmy checked with the kitchen and got us in. Had the St John burger and a couple dirty monkeys, and a great time with friends. They let us stay till almost 3, which felt was gracious.

I've been coming to this restaurant / patio bar since I was a young teen, and I have to say that this is the only time I've walked away extremely disappointed. The establishment boasts what is easily one of the most beautiful views on the island, but apparently the current owner doesn't see this as a selling point, and restricts access to their deck view to customers who wish to sit and eat a meal. My party was very polite and ordered eighteen dollars worth of drinks, but were still told in no uncertain terms that we could not even take one step closer to the excellent view. Worse, I was with my mother, who has an extremely sentimental attachment to this particular vantage point, and despite her polite request to be allowed to take less than a minute to take a look at Coral Bay and a far-off view of the house she has been vacationing at for over a decade, she was bluntly refused. The rationale, "People are eating lunch," didn't really hold much water due to the fact that the four other patrons on the patio didn't look as though they'd be disturbed at all by one other person taking a momentary view, and when I asked if there was any time that might be more convenient to take a look at the view (in return for the purchase of over-priced island drinks), the answer was "never." I couldn't help but notice that the establishment had deliberately grown trees to block the view from the road, something I would understand if they would at least charge for a better look at the bay, but this appears to be a case of an owner cutting off their own nose to spite their face. I can't imagine this business lasting if it is going to appeal to tourists and long time property owners on the island. Being greeted by a smile and a welcome rather than a terse sign and a rude bartender would encourage repeat business in my opinion. I believe there is a saying about catching flies with honey rather than vinegar . . . It's an apt one in this case. Be on the lookout for a change in management, but don't order if you won't be let past the restaurant door if you're not willing to shell out fifty bucks for a light lunch and drinks.

We had a very unfortunate experience at Chateau Bordeaux this time (March 6th, 2015). We have been visiting this restaurant for over 20 years, and never have we experience such rude behavior from the bartender on the outside deck, who told us 1). Are you here for drinks or food? when we told her we were here for drinks, she pointed to a spot next to the entrance to the deck and told us to stand here. 2). When we asked her if we could go on to the deck to look at the view, she said no, that's only for people who are having lunch, this is lunch time. 3). When we asked her when we should come back to be able to enjoy our drinks on the deck, she said "never". I was shocked by such rude and greedy behavior, and while the view is wonderful, there are many more "free" views that don't require you to purchase tepid overpriced fare for the privilege of looking at the view. Our drinks, which cost 18 dollars, consisted of a diet coke, a bottle of ice tea and the "original dirty monkey", which was watered down with too much crushed ice and served in a small and flimsy plastic cup. After this treatment, we will wait patiently until someone nicer who knows how to make customers feel welcome runs this once great restaurant.
