Smoked chicken very dry. Beef tenderloin portions extraordinarily small. Desserts left a lot to be desired for. Didn't complain due to be at a work function. Wouldn't return to eat, but maybe for cocktails only.
I have been to the Oak Barrel several times for business lunches due to its location and for the most part have had an enjoyable experience. That said, they really need to develop a lunch menu here, with smaller portions and prices. The "one menu for all meals" salads are ridiculously large for a lunch, which probably is why the crowd is pretty thin at noon. Another negative, at least during the crowded dinner time, is the very high ceilings and concrete floors, which can make conversations difficult when the place is packed. Overall, I would rate this four starts for dinner. Went this past Saturday evening with some friends for dinner and also had a great time (got the chicken and sausage platter). I don't understand the negative comments about the servers attitudes. As many times as I have gone (over 20) I've never had a rude or inattentive waitress, though I will admit some of them could be better trained on what the specials are and-more irritating-there tendency to screw up orders even on small orders.
First, the food is great. It is tasty and high-quality. You definitely get what you pay for. I've yet to find something I do not thoroughly enjoy. The ambiance is very nice too. It's a great date place, and when the weather is nice, it's a good place to grab a few drinks outside. I don't give five stars because of the service. It's been the same every time I've been there. It always seems like they mean well, but haven't been properly trained- for instance, they check on you lots when you don't need anything but disappear when you do, etc.
Great atmosphere, ambiance. But then again it could have been my date. The food choices were interesting and tasty. There are booths, tables and hi tops. There is outside seating and a nice fireplace. Imad and his staff did a great job to help make the night memorable for my lady and myself.
Delicious! We sat outside for a last nice fall day. The fire pit is nice to have in the outdoor seating area. Our service was excellent. The food was fantastic. The dessert even better! The view is pretty nice also.
Oak Barrel is a great restaurant, and I have a good experience every time I go. The menu is amazing, service is great, atmosphere is just right for a casual date night, and the food is always delicious! And in the summer the patio is perfect.
Hands down best onion rings on earth. Everything else was fine. Good food. Good atmosphere. Clean everything. Best onion rings EVER.
Vegetarian, Vegan, and Gluten Free dishes are available. Menu is easy to read. Love their food. Enjoyed seating outside next to the fire. Nice staff, great service. Definitely recommend! Looking forward to visit it again.
Really nice atmosphere, would be good for groups. Roasted cod was exceptional, and the spinach and leak mashed potatoes were nothing short of amazing. Dana was not only gorgeous, but very knowledgeable of the menu items and helped me choose a fantastic dish. Nice job!
The Oak Barrel is a pretty cool place. They have great lunch specials and fabulous dinners. The atmosphere is very nice with a fireplace for the cold winter months and a patio for the summer. I find their staff very good at their work and very respectful. You can order all sorts of whiskey and burbon. I hope you enjoy your visit.
I ordered calamari and eggplant rollatini. The calamari was delicious tender nice rings, no tentacles. Ba little pricey $14, for the quantity. Our server dad 4 people could share them. Not really. More like two people as an appetizer.
The eggplant rollatini, not so good. Breaded and was greasy. Barely any ricotta cheese inside.
I'm more or less a regular here now. It never fails to live up. There isn't anything on the menu that I haven't enjoyed, but specifically the big text salad and the Dr pepper roast are my go-to.
The Dr. PEPPER Braised pork shank is great. They have their own smoker built into the kitchen, so anything smoked (ribs or pork) is perfect. The chicken and waffles are some of the best around.
Then my favorite - the Maine lobster roll.
The Oak Barrel makes very good food. Really, you're getting more than your money's worth here, despite the fact that they're not terribly cheap. It's the quality of food to cost ratio that impresses me.
My only complaint is that I wish they'd change up their menu a little bit from time-to-time. Maybe add some more variety with a seasonal specials insert or something. It's not a very extensive menu (though everything is quite good), and it remains very static. Sometimes some new variety is a good thing (though, they definitely don't need to go over board).
For example, they had a chorizo corn chowder soup once a year or two ago, and it was freaking amazing. Possibly the best soup I've ever had. But, to my knowledge, they haven't had it since . . . maybe you guys could rotate that into the menu on a regular basis? :-)
A small group of us went for drinks, and it was amazing! The ambiance of the restaurant is incredible- very cozy. Great bar with an impressive list of beers. I am not a huge fan of beer, but when in Rome! and no regrets. I tried a chai spice beer and a light raspberry beer in the 6 oz size. Fantastic! Would recommend to others and would definitely go again.
