This University once was cutting edge. It is a great place to start certain educational pursuits. If you are a grad student, this is a great opportunity. Undergrads? You'd get better bang for your dollar elsewhere. The financial problems of this school has negatively impacted the school's ability to grow and recruit at a competitive level. The leadership of the school - President & Board of Trustees - has been lackluster at best in the past 20 years. The result is loss of sports programs, inability to attract and retain quality student+centered professors. The school is ANTI-First Amendment with respect to all students have equal voice, freedom of thought and expression. The one major advantage Wright State University has is its proximity to auto industry, defense industry, research opportunities, space (satellite) development and well-supported (by local communities) student life.

I like Wright State University. I went there years ago and I still go to campus for various reasons. It feels like a good size - big enough to have a lot of different courses but small enough to learn and traverse fairly quickly. They have added several big buildings in recent decades that continue to improve what they can offer. I highly recommend considering them and learning more than just these reviews.

WORST SCHOOL EVER. so my girlfriend was registering for spring classes. And she was trying to not take tax 2. The other class she could have taken was not an option due to budget cuts. So now she is forced to take next fall off and not get her bachelor's degree till after the spring of 2019. And now we have to postpone out wedding till after she graduate. THANKS WRIGHT STATE!

Terrible school. No sense of community, professors act like teaching is a terrible chore instead of an actual job. I would not trust the WSU Administration/Professors to run the Wendy's across the street much less the education of thousands of students. If these people had to operate in any regular business or government agency 90% of them would be fired in a month. Do not send your kids here.

WSU has been nothing less than a headache. My husband has attended there for two years and in those two years he was registered for two classes that he took and finished only to find out later he didn't even need. Yet, he paid for them. The staff is totally clueless and good luck finding an advisor that knows what's going on. I tell people to avoid this place, much better colleges around to attend!

My time at Wright State has certainly not been what I was hoping it would be. While it is not completely terrible, there are a lot of reasons why I would go to another school if I had the chance to do it over again. My main gripe with Wright State is that the staff is so clueless. I never want to be a person to try and tell someone how to do their job but when thousands and thousands of people are investing so much money and time into a place you expect the staff to be equipped to handle simple tasks and questions. The communication with every department is awful. You would have better luck jumping off a bridge and not breaking a leg compared to getting a simple, TIMELY response from any department at Wright State. An issue with your financial aid? They'll make sure to tell you a few days before the start of the semester. Don't even get me started on the advisors. I don't know what it is but they seem to play musical chairs and just keep switching jobs. The worst part about it is they don't even have the courtesy to send out an e-mail to the students they advise that they are leaving. I have found out 3 times now that my advisor left due to me trying to get a hold of them, only to find out they fell off the face of the earth. I have had 5 different advisors and I can already tell you I am headed towards 6. Each program has a certain set of requirements, which includes which classes you should take to be on track. These papers with these requirements are very helpful and should be easily accessible. But guess what, they aren't. Out of the 3 advisors I had prior to finding this out, not one mentioned this or gave me a copy. It set me back a semester and now I have to wait an additional semester because my Senior class is only offered in the Spring semester. That is being optimistic. If I know Wright State as well as I think I do, I will have some other delays due to incompetency. You're looking at a class of 2057 graduate right here! I will give them some credit though, I actually enjoy the campus due to it being small. That is the main reason I chose to go to Wright State because that better fits my personality. I'm not sure what is going on with this school. It looked so promising in 2014 when they sold me. Now, they just seem to be in the news for the wrong reasons. Additionally, I can say the professors and fellow students there are awesome and that is about one of the few positives I have to say about Wright State. All in all, I would strongly consider other options if I were a prospective student considering Wright State. Sure, it is relatively cheap in terms of tuition and offers you a chance to save a ton of money by commuting. But to me, the trade-offs are simply not worth it. Do yourself a favor and bite the bullet and go to a bigger school. At least you will be getting better service, a competent staff, and a school that actually cares about you rather than just chewing you up and spitting you out. Don't end up like me, feeling as if I am walking the green mile every time I walk from the parking lot to my first class.

I enrolled online and started online courses. The first day I seen I've taken the classes they had me scheduled for at another school. They put me in the wrong program and I withdrew and they still charged me for THEIR error. Never attended and have a $700 bill against my credit. Can't contact anyone who will handle this problem.

Wright State has truely earned the nickname 'Wright State wrong university'. Here's why:

Pros
1. There's an underground tunnel system that is useful in the winter or when it's raining.
2. The tuition is pretty inexpensive (but is probably contributing to the massive debt crisis they're facing)
3. They have lots of tutoring and help rooms, which is free for students.

Cons (aka what the university doesn't want you to know)

1. Like with any university, there are some good profs and some bad ones. Be especially wary of the chemistry and math departments, though.

2. Almost all of their policies are, to some extent, absurd. For example, in the Honors residence hall they "have to keep the lights on in the study lounges at all times", which is undoubtedly running up their electricity bill like crazy.

3. The food is VERY expesive and the "meal deals" are completely rigged. Also, the Union Market used to be open until 7pm and would get a lot of (satisfied) customers, but for some reason they now close it at 3pm.

4. Their staff can be rather clueless sometimes, so be prepared to have a 5-minute question turn into an hour long ordeal.

5. Again, the university's financial situation is quite rough, but the administrators seem to keep sugarcoating the problem instead of solving it.

I'm a student here, and everything mentioned above is something that I've personally experienced

Wright State University is not focused on their students success, educating their student, or helping to build the community. Rather they focused on indoctrinating their students to despise the United States and have values that cause a divisiveness between different groups. They openly encourage and espouse the doctrine of 'victimology'.

They import individuals from foreign lands, that openly preach killing and maiming as many Americans and Westerners as possible. They ensure that those on their campus are not protected from threats via NOT taking the opportunity that the State of Ohio provided with SB 199 (Concealed Carry). In addition, they blatantly engage in untruths by informing their students of facts that are not complete such as the their police chief saying that you can only store your weapon in a "locked trunk" when the law clearly states that a firearm can be stored at work/school as long as it is "locked within the trunk, glove box, or other enclosed compartment or container within or on the person's privately owned motor vehicle."

The institution is more focused on elongating one's education so that they claim more and more of their money and have a longer time to indoctrinate the students with their agenda that is an antithesis to the Founding principles of the United States. Would highly recommend looking elsewhere for one's education.
