Waste management is horrible company. Read your contract, they can raise your rate at any time and they do terrible customer service.

Great service and communication. Beware the auto renew on your contract. The sales representative will not remind you. Not something you keep on your mind.

I was with Howland Disposal for years. When they sold to WM things changed. In 2020 my pricing was dramatically increased. When I called WM to have my original contract honored- I was told that because of Covid no one could access the paper copy and no digital file existed, therefore they would not readjust my pricing to my contracted rate. It took going up the management chain and trying to cancel my services before the correct rate was billed.

I have yearly biweekly pickup service for my property and I use my cell phone as the account contact phone number- Not the business line specifically because we are a seasonal business and open six months out of the year. We have a key accessible in the same spot and it has been there for 25 years. Because new drivers are constantly being used on my route and, no matter how many times I request it, the key location is not notated on the drivers report for my property we get missed pick ups. And rather than calling the account phone number dispatch calls the business line and leaves a message. That’s not a big deal when we are open six months out of the year but when we are closed we do not get the message. It’s happened three times over the past six years that dispatch would call the business during our off-season and hear our business message letting people know we are closed for the season: and for some reason dispatch takes it upon themselves to switch my service from biweekly to on-call.

I was away for seven weeks this fall and when I came back I found my dumpster piled with trash overflowing onto the ground. In seven weeks we were not picked up one time and no one called my cell phone to let me know there was an issue. For the first time in 25 years I had a rat infestation. Do you know how hard it is to get rid of a rat infestation? Do you know that when one property has a rat problem the properties in the immediate vicinity also end up with a rat problem? My rental house next-door is one such property; it took so long to get it under control, my tenant, of 15 years, was so distraught she moved. That meant paying the mortgage without receiving rent until I could get the situation under control and re-rent it. Do you think waste management took any responsibility?
