This is a beautiful park and surrounding town to visit. Plenty of shops to stop in. A few cozy local shops as well. You have the big lake and the beach to visit in the area. Good fishing as well around the pier and channel.
Lovely little museum. My kids enjoyed climbing up to the top to look out. They had a little trouble on the way back down (the metal stairs are grated so if you're afraid of heights it may be a little intimidating). Nice collection of historical items, too, if you're into that sort of thing!
Easy access, love this light/keepers home. museum has many interesting artifacts.
this lighthouse is beautifulmy 2nd time here. I would definetly recommend this site if you enjoy lighthouses, and appreciate the history. plus having a nice beach/ pier surrounding is also very nice. the volunteers at the lighthouse were also very helpful, knowledgeable about the workings and the history of the surrounding lights! enjoy the view from the top!!
Nice lighthouse museum and beautiful walk on the pier. You can enter a small beach to the left of the pier and relax along the waterfront.
Beautiful setting. Well kept property. Couldn't go in because it was closed and a sheriff explained it. Wasn't necessary.
Great place to check out the sunset. Brought my family here on the last night we were in town and we loved it. Beautiful walk down the pier and the museum is also very neat from the outside. Tours of the lighthouse were (I believe), $5 for adults and cheaper for children, but my wife and I didn't end up taking it.
We love Michigan's historical lighthouses and this one was beautiful. Unfortunately we couldn't tour the living areas because it's currently privately owned. However, you can go up the lighthouse tower. There's a small gift shop and you can also purchase tickets for two other lighthouse tours at a discount.
Beautiful view 😀
I Love this lighthouse. The staff is kind and courteous, and the museum is really interesting. Love the location too!
Loved the tour of the light house, also went fishing on the channel, very nice place.Lots of places to rent from cabins to beautiful motels, access to lake Michigan, it warms up in July and August so swimming is fun, but be careful of the undertow. It comes when the waves are big Some beaches don't have life guards so be careful.
Beautiful building, quiet locationI've lived in the area for most of my life and just discovered this lighthouse a few months ago!
A lovely lighthouse museum, obviously cared for lovingly by a team of volunteers. It's in a beautiful location, and the views from the tower while climbing are lovely. This is a charming place to stop if you are interested in history. My boyfriend and I adored this place.
However, if you are not able bodied this might not be the place to visit. You have to climb several steps to get into the lighthouse, then the official museum displays are on the second floor, and then you still would need to climb the lighthouse tower to get to the top. There is a paved, accessible walkway next to the water that give you a good view of the lighthouse but just know that if you can't climb stairs you will miss out on a major part of the experience.
