Spacious, luxurious, well appointed rooms, beautiful antique woodwork and fireplaces, and a pleasant and helpful staff. Quiet and conveniently located to the rest of Charleston. The accompanying restaurant, 1886, is delicious. The perfect place to experience the grandeur of old Charleston.

We had such a wonderful time. The staff took care of all our needs, reservations for boat tour and a wonderful private tour from Linda. The restaurant, Circa 1886, was marvelous. Thank you all for our memorable 30th anniversary.

If you have a multi-stop destination, make this the last leg of your trip. The service is unmatched and the accommodations are beyond first class. If you start here and continue elsewhere, every other stay will be a disappointment. If you are in the hospitality or service industry, stay here and have your staff stay here. They wrote the book on excellent service. The accommodations include a full gourmet breakfast, a pass to the local gym, beverages in the afternoon, wine with hors-d'oeuvres, and conclude with a nightcap. The mansion is a historical masterpiece and the experience is life-changing. Best views of Charleston from the cupola!

Gorgeous place, food was amazing!! The whole experience could not have been better. Friendly staff, clean restrooms, beautiful location, attention to every detail, perfectly timed courses! Excellent wine selection!!

Perhaps the finest hotel I have ever had the privilege of staying at. The staff is amazing. The rooms are stellar. The only regret you will have is not staying longer. :-)

Check this spot out! The staff went above and beyond for my wife's thirtieth birthday. Location is central but still very quiet. Easy parking. Rooms are magnificent. Breakfast pastries baked fresh every morning. Wine and appetizers every evening. After dinner cordials. Amazing! We'll be back

Outstanding place to stay in Charleston. Great location, great attention to detail, and full of the "little things" that make your stay a little extra special. Highly recommend, especially if you're looking for a great weekend getaway experience. And having a Spa and restaurant on property is very convenient.

This is Charleston's largest and most beautiful mansion. An elegant 21-room, 24,000 sq. ft. architectural treasure, it was built by Daniel G. Wayne in the Second Empire style for cotton magnate, Francis Silas Rodgers and his family of 13, in 1881. Now an internationally-famous hotel, the grounds include a carriage house converted into a AAA, Four Diamond restaurant, Circa 1886, and a 1,000 ft. Spa, which was formerly the stable. Tourists are welcome to walk through the lower level, guests (about $550 per night) may go up in the cupola and see the view of Charleston.

Amazing restaurant and a wonderful find! The restaurant is one of the top 12 restaurants in the US and I could not agree more! Service was impeccable and Chef's attention to detail and flavors was incredible.

My family was in town and decided we should give Circa 1886 a second try. It's located just behind Wentworth Mansion on the property. They had a great experience the first time and insisted we make a reservation. The space is nice and intimate with medium lighting. The menu was diverse and most of what it offered was very appealing - I usually know within a minute or two what to order, but I juggled with half of the menu until our server was ready to take our orders. I order the rabbit confit which came on a bed of vegetables and beans, a mixture that was unexpected and very satisfying. The main course was a steak - ordered medium and cooked perfectly - served with a mashed parsnip-potato blend (I can't remember the exact term, just imagine how a rich person would improve mashed potatoes) and cooked carrots. I loved it and so did my girlfriend. Lastly, we took our server's recommendation and had the apple souffle with ginger ice cream. It came with salted caramel you could pour to your preference (I used it all) as well as brown sugar to sprinkle on top. It was delicious, and a great way to end a great meal. Circa 1886 will definitely be on our short list when the family visits again.

Beautiful ornate interior with what must be 16 ft ceilings. Great staff. Great service. Worth your while.
