The room was very clean, including sheets and bathroom. Even though there were stains all over the carpeting, you could still tell it was clean. And the soap smelled amazing. The water was also clean, no hard or soft or funny smelling water. And the staff was soooo friendly! The problems I had with the room were the water temperature and the bed. The water would fluctuate between scalding hot, perfectly warm, and freezing cold on it's own. The bed was clean, but it was old. The bed is definitely the most important - I mean, you're paying for a room to sleep in, but I couldn't get a wink of sleep because the mattress was such poor quality. Oh, and the sink faucet is too short - you have to press your hands against the sink to wash them. Could be a really awesome place with a few improvements.

Had I not had my recent experience with The Wayside staff, I would give them 4 stars based on previous stays, but this experience has dropped them to the bottom. BEWARE of their 14 day cancellation policy. I had a family emergency and needed to cancel my stay 4 days before my scheduled arrival. I called the hotel to explain my situation and the woman was beyond rude to me. I understand policies and adhering to them, but she was YELLING at me on the phone after I explained my situation. I have read other reviews regarding the staff and their lack of customer service skills. I love to support local businesses, but refuse to support jerks. Don't stay here.

Comparatively cheap and that's about it. Traditional old motel. Rooms are tiny. Walls are thin. Services are bare. The whole place is for sale as of this posting and it sorta shows in the attitudes of staff and state of the buildings. Lots of deferred maintenance around. Moldy, stained bathrooms, creaky beds, and outlets that don't work are examples.
On the plus side, dogs are allowed and we were not charged a pet fee.response / report this review -

Only reason this review didn't get a 1 was because of the nice people at the front desk. Rooms were small, unclean, in need of upgrades and at least a paint job. Sheets were clean but torn. Walls were super thin and made it very difficult to sleep. The rooms were without AC which isn't a big deal, but opening up the windows made the already noisy area even worse. Dirt road that surrounds the place are full of potholes. The electrical wiring of the room was very inconvenient.The light on the nightstand only worked if the overhead light was on. The bathroom was one of the smallest I've been in and that says a lot from someone that has lived in Manhattan. Nice folks at the front desk, but could've put us somewhere that wasn't next to the drunk loud guy that pretty much lives at the inn. We asked for another room because of the noise and were told that the guy next to us would be quieter and to call if he gets out of hand. Sorry, but I'm not into paying $125 a night for what felt like a rundown truckstop motel. Fix your business before it goes out of business!

The staff was wonderful- we talked with one man for quite a while upon checking in, and he shared all sorts of great tips and recommendations for the area. He was also very accommodating during our stay. For us, it was a good place to stay for a very reasonable price.

This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. For the price I was not expecting much, but this place was ridiculous and horrendous. Somehow the room was so hot all night even though we had the giant windows open and it was 50 degrees outside. We didn't sleep all night, first due to the sweltering heat and then due to the complete lack of sound proofing - we could hear every voice from the rooms next door, every bird chirp outside, every insect. The bed was itchy and hurt my back as well. It was unbearable. We came here to hike the following day and had to instead just drive home at 6 am because of how uncomfortable everything was. The environment was also extremely dirty and I did not feel safe. DO NOT COME HERE!! Seriously, spending a little extra money elsewhere is completely worth it.

My husband and I spent two nights here and they were both wonderful. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable, the comforter was super warm, and the hot tub was great! We will definitely be staying here the next time we visit Breck!

A basic, inexpensive 1960s style motel. Nothing fancy, but for Breck, you can't beat the price. Away from town but on the bus route.

Small but cozy rooms. Decent breakfast. Outdoor hot tub is great. Affordable and good location. I would recommend it
