We stopped here on our second stop of the northern loop wine trail. Their wine is exceptional, we bought three bottle to take home with us. The venue could be a little better (lake view or river view) but the wine is definitely worth the stop. We were skeptical at first because of the description on the wine trail map but if you want some good wine, you must stop here. Another good place is Green Bird Organic Vineyard but Verterra is our place of choice. We also stopped at boathouse vineyard, their venue is great but the wine needs some help.

Two very cheerful and knowledgeable staff guided us through their wine offerings and were so helpful to us through sharing information about the Leelanau area. Very good red wines, rather a rarity locally. Our favorite winery stop on the peninsula.

I recently attended a wedding at their Ridge venue. The wedding was outdoors and it was absolutely gorgeous. The reception was at the same location and in a tent. Again, gorgeous. The weather was cold, windy, rainy and the water was coming into the tent due to the rain. The staff worked so hard trying to keep the water out and put out sand bags and rolled up towels. They had umbrellas for the bride. They did an absolute wonderful job despite the lovely Michigan weather.

Had a great time at verterra. The Blackberry cider was our favorite. Matt was our server did a phenomenal job. Got a chance to talk to Paul the owner down-to-earth great guy.

Great wine, but the service is exceptional! Paul was so kind and knowledgeable! We really appreciated his willingness to spend time talking wine with us about grape varieties, regional differences, competition procedure and moreso cool!
