Very disappointed with this practice, and myself. Brought my cat in to be seen and they did some bloodwork. Was told on Monday, Sept 25th that my cat was diabetic and we needed to set up a follow up appointment for education and to start treatment. I offered up that I had the next day, Tuesday available, and my next day off would be Friday. I was told that Friday was fine since his other tests were ok.

We noticed a change on Tuesday and called the vet. They told us to try the specialty food they were planning on prescribing. Over the course of this week, we called the vet on at least 4 occasions expressing our concerns over my cat deteriorating. We were assured that the Friday appointment was fine.

My cat passed 7 hours before his appointment time. I was pissed and distraught. When the vet called and offered to review the case with me, I thought perhaps they cared and miscommunication/mistakes occurred, I called them back to say I would like that review.

I called back on Tuesday to remind them once again that I wanted this case review, and they could not even find me in their system. Once I started to tell my story, they "found" me again and relayed they would pass the message on to call me as soon as possible.

Well it is now two full days later and still no call back. My mind has cleared, and I am no longer delusional that this was some unfortunate misunderstanding. They just don't give a damn about you or your pets.

I have been taking my dog there for 3 years and I enjoyed working with their team. I went to school for veterinary medicine and I have high standards for the care my pet receives, I was pleased with each visit to VCA Swengel I recieved, The staff remembered my pet even though we did not visit often so it made me feel special. Even though it can get a little pricey sometimes, it is worth it for the well being of my pet. I have since moved away from Indiana and I am currently shopping around for veterinary care, I must say I haven't been able to find a hospital that meets my standards! I miss you VCA swengel :)

VCA Swengel Animal Hospital is a fantastic place to take your pets! We've always received the best care for our pets there. They really do a great job with nervous animals and always try to make them as comfortable as possible. They even helped us to get our pets moved to Europe (filled out forms and walked us through the entire process). Go here, they are great!

Dr. Swengel has been so great with me and my 3 Dogs! He has taken great care of all of their different needs. From my 12 year old that is blind down to the puppy I got last year. All the staff is very knowledgeable and has great solutions to all my questions. When I have to leave my pets for more than a day I know they are getting the best care and attention.

I have gone to Dr Swengel and his associates for 19 years and can't say enough kind words regarding the care and treatment my pets have always received from them. From the moment you walk in until you leave you are made to feel as if you are the only patient there. Everyone is kind, courteous and knowledgeable. I have recommended the hospital many times over the years without hesitation and I will never take my fur babies anywhere else.

I have had good experiences here and was very satisfied with the treatment that I get here for my kitties. With each visit, the vet techs will print out a treatment plan and the estimated costs associated with your needs, so pretty much no surprise expenses, which is very nice considering I have had unwanted surprise expenses before at other vets. Also, I love that the staff will take the time and give me information and educate me on what kind of concerns I have with my cats. I feel like my animals are in good hands here and will continue taking them to see Dr Swengel. Thanks so much!

30 year pet owner.
Swengel was recommended by a neighbor 30+ years ago. Took care of our 1st poodle and he lived 19.5 years. 2nd poodle is 10 years old now. Staff is well above average. Dr.Swengel cares about animals as pets. Do you homework on pet care and use Dr. Swengel. He's the best!
