The VA system itself is the only thing holding this Hospital back. Other than that its one of the best in the country for a reason, I can talk to my doctor as long as it takes. At Salisbury VA Hospital and Columbia VA Hospital I was treated like trash and rushed out the door. Front desk people even yelling at me cause i wouldn't answer them fast enough. Every experience I have had so far at the Asheville, VA has been pleasant.

Have been going to the Asheville VA for 17 years. Never anything but professional, courteous, and caring treatment. Rarely have to wait long; never for any type of "must have" diagnosis or treatment. Two life saving operations. Therapy. First class every time. Would never receive this good service or care in the private sector. Asheville is rated number one in the entire system for a reason. Now if trump and his evil director would stop attempting to destroy the system and privatize it, even more vets could receive treatment.

My experience at this VA hospital has been nothing but thumbs up. My father, my brother and I are all Vets and we have had nothing but positive experiences here. Yes, it does take a while to get an appointment. And I have found this to be true at the other vets hospitals that I have gone to. There are just so many vets that have not kept themselves in shape, so of course there are a lot of ailments. I believe that Charles George VA hospital is above and beyond the Call of Duty in terms of doing whatever is necessary so as to ensure the care and management of the veterans that come there.

Called to try and get an appt due to some acute problems that didn't seem to warrant the ER. Can't get an appt AT ALL. Can't get a return call AT ALL. Even after they say they will. This place doesn't care. Unless you are sick at your required yearly appt, then you are just out luck. They say this place is the best in country. If that is true then they need to completely rework the system. I have met zero veterans that work there. This place should be veteran operated. Then maybe someone will care even slightly.

My Dad was admitted to the Hospice Care facility at the VA this past June. He passed away on July 4, 2017. I can tell you the care he got was unlike anything I've seen in a hospital setting. He was given the absolute best of care..top notch.. Extremely caring staff. If he had any needs, they were right there within a minute to see to those needs and help in any way possible.

I have been coming here for almost 10
Years. Never had a bad visit. Staff always friendly and professional. When I hear about problems at other VA facilities I am so thankful I get to come to Asheville.

I came up to Asheville from Anderson area on a Tuesday to be seen in the emergency room . I was greeted sincerely, triage d in a very short period of time with a young man who asked detailed questions but was not stuffy about it, taken back to see an ER doctor who took his time, asked plenty of questions about my current condition, told me what he was able to help me with today, had X-Rays taken, gave me something for pain, told me he would follow up with the Ortho docs when they got out of surgery and make sure a consult is made to be seen as soon as possible. I was admitted @ 9:40 and was on my way home @ 10:50. Wonderful people, smiling, genuine concern and I was overwhelmed by the efficiency at how everything was handled. I wish the VA system had less of a noose around things, I bet I could have been seen and admitted as a patient for surgery if the Docs had their way about it. Thanks for everything. I look forward to my next visit.

My daddy goes here and he is very happy with them. I was there today to see him and he was bragging about how good everything was and how good he was being treated. I thank you all that are taking such great care of my father Terry Messer.

They don't care about you to pick up the phone and help you.

I've called and left messages about worsening symptoms-- no one calls me back. I've left nurse messages and no one calls me back.

I've asked to get an outside referral which I KNOW is possible (confirmed by 3 sources) and they tell me that they would be happy to provide it, but it isn't offered.

They won't even call the facility to find out how it's coded. They just say it's not available.

I've contact patient advocates so many times and that's a joke. They won't help you if you don't pick up the phone when they call back. They don't attempt to call you back again. And if you do pick up the phone, they will only help you for 30-60 minutes by basically relaying messages.

I received MUCH better care at the Orlando, VA.

If you like health care professionals who don't give a damn about you, then this is the place to go.

What a pit of garbage. If you need blood drawn or a bandage put on, its great. Other than that, the place sucks. Multiple times I was ignored and even test I had done that backed up my condition was also ignored. Every civilian facility I have been to (Five), has said I had an issue. I am disgusted that this is the healthcare I am offered to treat service related injuries. Now I pay out of pocket to get quality care for my injuries. I could post a novel with the neglectful and incompetent care I have received, but I figure if you read this, you can figure it out, Asheville VA sucks.

Been going to the Charles George VA since 1992 and watched it go from average/mediocre to one of the best VA's in the country. I have been to others and none even come close. Sure there are issues, what hospital or clinic doesn't have issues, but if you are patient and work with the staff there you will get the care you need. Treat them bad or act out, well just do not do that. We vets have a variety of needs that can not be met out in the private sector where waiting lines are long and test results take forever so please tell your elected officials.
DO NOT PRIVATIZE THE VA.
