I had the signature massage there as a birthday gift. It was a great experience. The reception staff very nice and welcoming. They gave you hot tea and let you use warm neck pillow before the massage. The waiting room is very cute. The owner introduced the place to me and gave me the massage. I have truly enjoyed it. It’s a very relaxing and comfortable environment.

I originally went to Urban Sanctuary with a gift certificate from my boyfriend. He had been there before and raved about it. I am not ashamed to admit that I will drive nearly an hour to visit this spa! I have a high end spa within 5 minutes from where I live, but Urban Sanctuary is the best. I have been back for 2 more treatments since spending my gift certificate and I can’t wait to go again. They will cater to your needs, so don’t be afraid to speak up. Classy and relaxing.

I have been here twice so far and it's been the best experience each time. I did a bridal party for my sister last year that we all raved about and went back again yesterday. I love the relaxing atmosphere, professional attitudes and personal experience I've had each time. Great work urban sanctuary!

Urban Sanctuary is by far the most relaxing place in the Classic City. Each employee takes his/her job very seriously & does everything possible to make you feel right at home in the calm atmosphere of the spa. The technical aspects of a facial can be intimidating for many first-timers, but Dina's expertise with my problematic skin saved my wedding day & I will forever be a regular customer of hers since then (2+ years ago). Her knowledge of skin maintenance is impressive, but she doesn't try to sell you products you don't need or that don't work. The product lines at the spa are absolutely trustworthy & effective. I have come to adore Suki & Naturopathica, thanks to Urban Sanctuary & Dina's guidance. I highly recommend this amazing business & hope they are a mainstay of Athens life for years to come.

Love, love, love urban sanctuary! The ambiance in their restored building is so welcoming and relaxing! Makes the perfect setting for a day of spoiling yourself! Their prices are affordable and services and staff are amazing! Can't wait for the holidays to arrive so I can receive my yearly gift certificates from family to use there!

What a beautiful and relaxing environment. Top notch customer service. The staff are super friendly and want to make sure you are being pampered. The lobby also has a ton of great goodies to take home. Definitely recommend a visit!

I absolutely LOVED the atmosphere at Urban Sanctaury. I was extremely stressed out with things going on and decided to try it out. I got a full body Swedish massage for an hour and it was totally worth it. The facility is very clean and peaceful. I really liked the waiting room and that there's multiple places for you to wait. While we waited for our massage, we were given a heated neck pillow to relax. My masseuse was awesome and super personable. It wasn't until after my massage that I learned she was the owner of the establishment. I would highly recommend trying this place!!

Urban Sanctuary is a fantastic little Athens hideaway. I have enjoyed every experience I've had there when it comes to the actual services they provide. The staff is exceptional, the products are amazing, and the massages are almost heavenly. The facilities are spotless and everyone super professional. The only reason I did not give a full five stars is due to the lackluster waiting experience. Yes, they do give you hot herbal tea and a heated neck pillow, which I very much appreciate, but not much else to occupy the time. It's a bit awkward to sit and wait (either before services or in between services) sometimes 15-20+ minutes with not much to do except sit in a rather uncomfortable chair and stare at the curtains. If you don't have someone there to talk to time ticks very slowly, and I found myself growing anxious at a place where relaxation is a priority. That's literally my only complaint. Keep up the good work, Urban Sanctuary!

I had my first deep tissue massage here today. The spa is absolutely adorable and the customer service on the front end was FANTASTIC. I was offered a lovely smelling warm neck pillow and a nice cup of tea in the relaxation room while I filled out my paperwork. The wait was short and I was quickly introduced to my massage therapist Alexin who was very sweet and informative. I haven't had a lot of massages, so I was a little unsure about the whole process, but she completely put me at ease. She asked what areas were bothering me and really focused on them. She did an outstanding job and even told me things I can do at home for self care. My one con for the day that kept everything from being perfect was the checkout process. My massage today was a gift and was paid for on the phone while the appointment was made for me. Upon walking out they told me a total and expected me to pay. I would have really appreciated if they had been more organized and recognized that my appointment was paid for in full before telling me the total. That issue was resolved quickly as they looked up information on the computer and realized that the total was indeed prepaid. Overall, EXCELLENT experience and I will definitely be back.

I got a gift card for graduation and was excited to finally use it. Now, I can't wait to just use up the card (just so I can get the moneys worth) so I don't have to deal with this place anymore. I got a wax that still left me with hair. Not only was this the most over priced service I have ever received it wasn't even worth the money. (I could get 3 waxes for the price of one and actually be hairless at many places in Athens). I think they were proud to say they provide "fast wax" but it seems like they should take their time and try harder to get everything. I grew my hair out to be longer than a grain of rice (instructions were to be as long as a grain of rice) and apparently this isn't long enough. Actually tell the customer what you expect so that we can get the service we pay for. Unfortunately, I left feeling like I could have done 1000x better myself or gone elsewhere and that my money went to waste. Now I feel more stressed trying to think about how to fix this mess of a wax. Would not recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been to Urban Sanctuary at least 8 times over the last 2 years. I started going to help some severe shoulder pain I had due to a car accident about 10 years ago. The guy I was going to moved, but he did a fantastic job helping me with my shoulder pain. So, my first 6 experiences were great.

I also took my mother in law to Urban Sanctuary when she was visiting. She said her massage was "ok". Not the best, but not the worst.

The last 2 times, my husband and I went to have couples massages done. My first couples massage was decent. The masseuse really focused on my shoulder. My husband said his massage was pretty good. We both mentioned that once the massage was coming to an end, the person working on you then "rocked" you. It wasn't too bad, but noticeable. We were both not fans after getting a relaxing massage. But, we decided to give it another try. Maybe they were just having a bad day.

Our second couples massage was definitely not as good. We both requested the same people as before, so, we knew their techniques. Both massages were rushed. The "rocking" at the end of our massages were much more pronounced. It was not a relaxing experience at all.

I don't know if they are told to shake and rock clients at the end to make sure they aren't sleeping or what. It is extremely off putting and I will not be going back. I don't know if all for the massages are done this way for consistency. If so, I think that doesn't make sense because I enjoy having a variety of techniques to choose from. Not every client wants the same massage and it doesn't necessarily work for every client.

For the amount of money I have paid to get massages there for myself and my family members, I am disappointed. I had such great experiences here about 2 years ago, but it has gone down hill.

My first time to this Spa. It is in beautiful old school building with huge windows that spanned from the floor to the ceiling, with beautiful white shears.
The fragrance of different wonder filled things hit you when you first walk in. Very inviting and relaxing.
I had the pleasure of speaking to the owner. This lady was just fabulous and making her Spa in Athens is primary in her thoughts, and, I know this lady WILL make it. Because, she most assuredly, cares about her customers.

**Update: The owner did call me after my review to discuss my experience at Urban Sanctuary a couple years ago. She explained they have a money back guarantee for unsatisfying services. Even with my late review, the owner offered to make up my massage for a second impression. I really appreciated her genuine care for customer service, even after a belated compliant. If there are any problems, be sure to voice them to management, they will take care of you.

Great atmosphere, everyone talks in hush voices. I guess that's the spa way. Anyways, I haven't had a lot of massages, so I was excited to have one at Urban Sanctuary. I was in desperate need of a massage after wedding stress. She did ask me where I needed attention, which was my shoulders. I had an hour massage, so she asked me to use the restroom before and then get undressed. I waited for her to return, then 40-45 mins later we were done. I was pretty disappointed that I didn't have a full 60 mins massage what I paid for. My only conclusion is that she included time it took for me to use the restroom and get undressed and for her to actually enter the room. Like I said, I haven't many massages, so I didn't know if that was the "spa way". My body could have really used the full 60 mins.

My fiance surprised me with a gift certificate for a spa day here for my birthday and I was so excited to use it. I've only gotten a few massages before but had never experience a body scrub or facial (I'm definitely used to pedicures, though). I had no trouble booking the appointment and loved how the spa looked and smelled when I walked in. Everything was very relaxing and calm.
I wasn't very impressed with the actual spa services, though. I was told to reserve 3 hours for the spa day. The body scrub was first and it was just ok. I didn't notice any difference in my skin after it was over and showered off and it wasn't relaxing (not sure what I was supposed to expect, but I decided to move on). The massage, which I was most looking forward to, was supposed to be neck, shoulders, and back. It ended up being a full body massage (arms and legs included) but the pressure was extremely light and it felt more like someone was just applying lotion/oil to my skin. It was shorter than the body scrub and before I knew it, the massage was over. I was then asked to sit in the back until it was time for my facial. I sat by myself for about 15-20 minutes. This was my first facial, but there wasn't anything done that I don't already do at home. It was relaxing, but my skin felt oily the rest of the day until I was able to go home and wash it for fear of my skin breaking out. The leftover oatmeal scrub smell wasn't the appealing either and luckily went away after one wash. I was then asked to sit and wait for another 15-20 minutes for the pedicure. Knowing how much pedicures cost here, I was not impressed. I have had much better pedicures other places in town.
Overall, the facility and the staff are all nice. I was just disappointed in the spa day that I was looking forward to so much as a way to relax during wedding planning. I handed over the gift card at the end and apparently still had $10 leftover on it (I'm not sure why they told my fiance to pay a higher amount for it if it wasn't all needed). I had heard such great reviews about Urban Sanctuary but my experience sadly did not meet those reviews and expectations.
