I decliined Safemove insurance via selection on the touch screen in the U-haul office. An employee discussed the potential consequences of doing so. In addition, at the time I picked up the truck, I was told the "contract" which is a cost estimate would be adjusted when I returned the truck and that was not what I would be charged. However, the email receipt, which required two inquiries and 24 hours plus to receive, revealed that I was charged for the insurance.

I called the U-haul office and discussed the issue, was told it would be corrected and that I would be emailed an updated receipt. After 24 hours passed, I had received no receipt. I called yet again to explained and was told that they would email the receipt then. The receipt was received immediately via email BUT still reflected the Safemove insurance!!!

I called back again and spoke with someone who was very rude and said that the previous employees that I spoke with were wrong and that they can't help me with removing the fee for insurance. She did not seem to care that I had been misinformed previously. She said call 1-800-Go-Uhaul. I think that has resolved the issue but my point here is that this Athens location seems to have employees that are poorly trained and in some cases rude. My advice is to not walk out of that office without a correct receipt in your hand!!!!

How many tries would you guess it would take to find a working car trailer? 1 or 2 right? 3 hours later and 6 trailers in, they finally found 1 trailer with working brake lights AND functional straps.

Double check any equipment you rent, they certainly don't.

This location lied to me during the reservation process regarding their 1-way trailer rental policy: they stated that if I returned the trailer earlier than my intended return date, the rental (including insurance) would be pro-rated to match the actual duration of the rental. That is not the case, and I was not notified of this until I dropped off my trailer at my destination. When I contacted corporate customer service, they opened a ticket for this issue, and I was told I would be contacted by the location I rented the trailer from (Athens West) within three business days. They never contacted me, only provided a partial refund of the promised amount, and are now dodging my phone calls. Avoid this location at all costs if you can. Their shady business practices and poor trailer maintenance (I had to stop two times for repairs - the second of which was a total wiring failure of the trailer lights) make any trailer rental a risky venture.

Great place to work with, they have a wide variety of their own trucks and equipment. They are very busy so call ahead to be sure you get the equipment you want.

Nice people. Super helpful every time I was in there. WARNINGthey charged my card 3 times for the same rental. I've been on the phone with customer service and accounting for over a week trying to reverse charges. I keep being told "it's coming". The money still has not been credited. They take your money fast but seem quite slow to return money from their mistakes.

This is not the kind of hassle that one needs when they are moving across the country, taking on a new job while selling a house and buying a new house.
