The staff was very nice and helpful here. The bathrooms were clean. We didn't like how small and packed tight the sites were. There is very little coverage too, hardly any trees between sites. Not a great place if you're sleeping in your hammock. Also, although the staff couldn't do anything, most of the sites were very wet and flooded. Great staff and appreciated later office hours.
Very nice campground. Very friendly and informative staff. Still an upper peninsula campground make sure you bring extra long extension cords for power.
Such a great campground. Located right on the shore of Lake Superior. Sites are not secluded aside from a few. Has free showers and clean restrooms.
Bathrooms are very well kept up. The camp sites are very close good for RVs not necessarily tents, although tent camping is allowed. If you come be sure to visit bond waterfall in ontanogon it's is beautiful! Overall very pleasurable outside of close sites. Every site has a fire pit and electricity is available I also saw people with their pets.
Overall this is a great campground.FOR FAMILIES!! I would say families or older couples. First I thought the campgrounds would be a bit farther apart, but you're basically right next to everyone. I had campsite 46. Some of the other ones seemed farther apart if you were in different sections. In the emails it sent me it made it almost sound remote and away from everything. Which wasn't the case, you get service and your close to lots of things. There is an updated bathroom, shower, and laundry room. I would say to take your families here is a great choice. I barley saw any patrol people.
Just rating based on driving through. I made a reservation 6 months ago just to get spot 25. Based on other reviews it seemed a good spot for my 40' motorhome. The campgrounds were very nice looking, but very wet. Im bot blaming the weather for the lower rating just the spots seemed very worn and some crushed stone would've made this place our destination. After repeated failed attempts to get in touch with the rangers leading up to my arrival to check the status of my spot i made a day of reservation at the Ontonagon Township campground. Spots 65-70 are on lake superior and are much nicer than anything at here.
One of my favorite campgrounds! Very nice clean restrooms and beautiful views of the lake.
I've camped at Union Bay many times and it is one of my favorite campgrounds, mostly for the great scenery. That being said, a good majority of the sites are at least somewhat off level and the ones along the lake on the lower loop are rather small and not very suitable for more than a fairly small r.v.
Decent state RV Park on Lake Superior near Porcupine Mountain State Park. Comfortably laid out. No easy access to a swimming beach. But there is a boat launch and canoe and kayak rentals are close at hand.
Three nights in pop up trailer. Sites were well spaced. We had lovely tree-shaded site with Superior within hearing distance. The park staff take care of the bath house which had hot showers and clean restrooms. Great modern camping in great location (hiked the Porkies and combed the beaches)
