I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about our beloved President Truman. Our tour guide, Rene was pleasant and knowledgeable.
Very nice . We enjoy taking family and company to visit the house and property. Thanks for letting us ladies come have our ornament exchange party there too!
Interesting tour, not too long or a lot of walking but slightly narrow and steep stairs which are typical in older homes. The guide described a time when a president respected the people he worked with, the people he worked for, and made conscious decisions to ensure he didn’t waste taxpayer money for even the smallest personal expenses. Times sure have changed.
Enthusiastic, knowledgeable docent (Jeremy). Very interesting tour! I highly recommend this.
Had a great time here. The tour was entertaining and enjoyable. We are history lovers so we loved it. Learned a lot about President Truman. If you are a Truman lover be sure to visit his home in Independence MO.
I knew Truman was a great President but didn't know he accomplished so much! Great place to visit and get a better sense of that period.
Loved it. Better than I expected. Great tour guide. Beautiful grounds.
Cool to see and say you've visited it, but not a whole lot of fun. Don't bring young children here--they'll be bored out of their minds! Nice little gift shop full of political apparel and a very friendly staff.
We love visiting presidential homes and this one falls between that and full blown Govt monument/building. Good tour guide. Neat house. Lots of history.
It was a winter White House for the former POTUS Harry Truman. A good place to get into the history, the time around the WW2. Just as you enter, there is a souvenir shop with a wide range of accessories, mugs, badges etc with various American symbols and identities as well as those associated with Harry Truman. There is a free to visit part of the museum with various photographs of that time and quotes from the president on various topics.
A good place to visit.
The history of the house was interesting and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Parking options are poor but that is true with all things in this area. Recommend renting a scooter to get around. Parking is free and much easier to find with a scooter. Overall, a good way to spend 30 minutes out of the heat.
If you love history during Truman Presidency & are in Key West then stop here. Person that conducted our guided tour was great & answered all questioned that were asked. You can take photos outside but once inside on tour photos are forbidden.
We took the tour and learned a lot. The tour is led by a docent and they take you through the various exhibits inside. Photography is not allowed inside the building as it can still be used by Presidents. There are two exhibit areas which don't need a ticket and photographs can be taken. There is a nice little gift shop. The lawns and surrounding areas are very well maintained. Restroom facilities are available near the lawn area near the entrance.
Beautiful and fascinating piece of ongoing American history. Everyone goes to Hemingway's house, but I actually enjoyed the Little White House better. It's fully air conditioned (Hemingway's house only recently installed AC in some of the upstairs rooms and they pack the tour groups so full that the rooms still get unbearably hot). And because it is still actively used by our American President's, it is still fully and beautifully furnished. The grounds are breathtaking and if you have time, take a stroll. Tours are 45 minutes long and start every 30 minutes or longer - so you may find yourself waiting quite awhile for the next tour (so be prepared). There is a covered outdoor seating area while waiting for the tour, or a free exhibit room inside the gift shop with rotating historical information.
Our tour guide Bruce was excellent! He was very knowledgeable and funny. This is a great place to bring the family while visiting Key West. It is filled with a lot of history and interesting facts about our 33rd president. It's very unique given that you actually get to walk inside most of the rooms of this historic house. Highly recommend this Adventure!
