  I'm giving it a 1/5 star rating but really it should be 0/5. TownHouse Apartments are literally the WOAT. I honestly don't know how anyone has left any positive reviews of this place and it has me wondering if they were paid to do so. Yes, TownHouse is cheap and close to the UNC Campus, but it is not worth the $500 a month you pay for it (not including having to pay for your own laundry - $1.50 to wash, $1.00 to dry) and a $600 per year fee for parking, especially when there are other places close by for the same price that are much, much nicer.
  From the outside, TownHouse looks live low-cost government housing and is very old. The parking lot is not very well taken care of and there are several potholes. The inside of the apartments are not much better. It is obvious that they have made little to no renovations to these apartments for years. The floors are extremely squeaky and not in nice shape, there are cracks in the walls and places where they have repaired little holes in the wall and not even painted over it to make it match the wall color, etc.
  The bathroom does not have any type of drawers to store things and additionally doesn't even have any electrical outlets in them, so if you want to blow dry or straighten your hair ladies, you're going to have to do it in your bedroom. Additionally, it took a good 3-4 minutes for the sink water in my bathroom to get to a warm temperature. When I first moved into Townhouse, my bedroom door was so off-center that it would not even shut, additionally, the current doorknob on the door would not lock. I contacted maintenance at TownHouse and they told me that they would come by and fix the door not shutting, but that they did not provide locking doorknobs for the bedrooms and replaced my doorknob with one that didn't have any type of lock on it.
  Cockroaches are also a big problem at TownHouse - at one point during my stay there my roommate and I saw 5 cockroaches in a timespan of 2 days. 4 of the 5 of these were in our bedrooms/bathrooms, so it was not because of food that was left out.
  The laundry rooms at TownHouse are actually disgusting and in the building I stayed in they only had 3 washers and 3 dryers for many apartments. The laundry room is not in good condition and the washers and dryers are very old. You must pay for them with quarters (as previously stated - $1.50 for washing and $1.00 for drying) and Townhouse does not have a coin exchange machine in the laundry room either so you are forced to go to a store and ask them for change in quarters. I did laundry today and when I started the washer it started filling up with water so I left - I came back to find that the washer wasn't working. I had to slam down the washer door for it to work. Then when I tried to dry my clothes I put them in the dryer for 2 cycles and they were still wet - to be fair, it was a large load so for the 3rd cycle I split the load in half in 2 separate dryers. When I came back to check on them after the cycle was finished, some of my clothes were still damp, 3 cycles and $4.00 later.
  One weekend, my friend came to visit me for a span of one hour at 7:30 on a Saturday night. Literally 5 minutes after she arrived, someone came by and put a wheel lock on her car. She had to pay $200 to have it removed. There were actually more empty parking spots than there was occupied ones at the time considering this was during the summer. We tried to negotiate with the company that put the wheel lock on the car and they said there was nothing they could do about it - it was TownHouse's rules.
  It's obvious that all the owners of TownHouse apartments want to do is make money and not make any types of improvements whatsoever to the place. Gina, the woman who is the landlord/runs the front office is not friendly at all and needs to work on her customer service skills. I would not recommend this place.

  After living here two years, I can definitely say I do not recommend it. From having an nonfunctional dishwasher despite multiple maintenance requests, to the mildewy and typically damp basement washers (2 washers and 2 dryers for dozens of apartments), to the shoddy paint job which made it impossible to close any of the doors when I moved in, and finally upon nearing the end of the lease, having maintenance surprise visit me at 8 am and proceed to tear apart my kitchen, for an unannounced remodeling, haphazardly leaving all of my dishes and food on my living room floor (not to mention the unsightly holes in the wall). I have not been impressed with the management nor the facilities of these apartments.

  From the outside looking in, Townhouse does not have an outstanding appearance and since the buildings are 50+ years old, they do have wear and its quirks. HOWEVER, do not judge a book by its cover. Some of the oldest books are the greatest stories!
  Cliche, I know but the fact of how low the rent is, considering how freaking close Franklin St & UNC Campus is, I will put up with its quirks. What makes it even more worthwhile is the management who know Townhouse is not a 5 star Hilton hotel, but treat you as if you are a guest staying at one.
  I am a college student living here for the 2nd year and already signing my lease for a 3rd year so clearly Townhouse is a place to be :)

  The management is really great - very friendly and quick to respond to any issues. The price is unbeatable, I spent two years here and loved every minute of it.
